Extremely low internet speeds with 4g/5g Router

All I have done so far is install one update on the stock firmware that the router prompted me with when I first turned it on. Is there something youd reccomend I do?
I don't know if this is of any help to you but reading a review of this router on Amazon someone mentions having to flash newer firmware to get it to properly connect to 5G.

I actually tried out this router about 6 months ago and sent it back within 2 or 3 days because I couldn't connect to 5G.. and didn't feel confident enough myself to tinker with it in case I voided any warranty. I can see the price has been reduced again in the Amazon spring deals.. tempted but not sure haha

Anyway this is the info that that reviewer posted:

Yes indeed the mast i am connected to is 4g only, as you say b1 and b3. I cannot connect to the 5g mast in the area reliably, only managed to connect to it once last week. honestly I just wish i could reach the 60-100mb of the 4g mast, during the day it struggles to get over 10 if it manages to get over 5mb download that is... i will see with my phone which is on giffgaff so also 3 network if the mast gives better speeds when near it.
Giffgaff is actually on O2, not 3, it may be possible for you to pick up the 5g mast if you use a directional external antenna. Problem is they are not cheap and I would definitely get closer to that mast and see how it performs before spending any more money. If you do want to go down the external antenna route make sure you can return it if it doesn't work out.

Thanks for the insight! I feel like the router itself is pretty solid I like all the features it has, i think im just in a very unfortunate location... it manages to get much better speeds than my phone can so I dont think its the routers fault

Thanks I wasnt aware actually, I will look into the antenna but yeah definitely will go see how the speeds are near that mast first . I might just have to bite the bullet as I migh tbe moving in a few months time anyway
