Fake 5G or just a glitch?

This has been happening since I got my new phone (2 weeks ago). Whenever I leave Merthyr which is a 5G area, it keeps me connected to “5G”no matter what, FTM says its Band 20 4G but iPhone says 5G. I don’t even know if this is a dumb post or not :ROFLMAO: I have no clue why it’s happening. When I call someone or get a call it switches to 4G, after it’s switches back to 5G.

For 5G calling, VoNR is required (support from both operator and phone)

It could just be NSA? (I.e combined 4G+5G) But as you mentioned it's band 20 4G that likely isn't the case and it's just freezing the 5G icon as jmngonline said below this post

3 does not have anything to do with dual mast sharing or DSS technologies so it is most likely that your iPhone is playing with you by freezing the 5G symbol. A simple restart should solve the problem.

Adding 5G would involve an upgrade so you wouldn't get only 5mHz B20 on 105dBm. 3's 5G upgrades even on older sites without N78 kit should still have 4G+ 5+15mHz CA on B20.

Calling on 3 runs on voLTE so there will be no 5G during a call.

Three definitely has some DSS. I think B1 and B28 have both been on DSS at some point and I believe I had B1 DSS on 11096 iirc?

This is the minimum B20 signal you should get on a 5G capable mast.

5+15 MHz

Yeah got it, thanks! Still wondering when they will fix the flipping mast near me. Band 20 is only available from one which is like 2 miles away from me?
