Fast24 / Domainbuster

Anybody who has a domain registered through Domainbuster/Larknet/Fast24 must be as confused as I am.
www.domainbuster.com has "vanished" from the internet saying the domain name has expired. Calls to Fast24, the "parent" company, support line get a message saying broadband customers should ring another number - and YOU ARE THEN CUT OFF!!! Is this what people expect as a form of support?

I am in the unenviable position of hosting a website with domainbuster that I can not now access as the ftp is through ftp.domainbuster which obviously doesn't resolve, I can't reach the domain transfer pages of domainbuster to move my domain to a more reputable host and I can't even get an answer on the fast24 SALES line.

Conclusions:
1) Fast24 support does not exist
2) Fast24 do not want anymore sales - take note if you were thinking of moving to them!
3) My only option is to by-pass them and pay £15 dirctly to Nominet to transfer my domain.

It's a complete joke. I've got three domains registered with them and I can't access my email and if you go to any of my URLs is says "This domain has expired"! Their service was down most of Friday and then came back on Fri afternoon but now has been down since Sun morning.

I phoned Fast24 support (after many times of trying) and they said engineers are "on it". (Drugs, maybe?) If you want to hassle them yourself, try 0845 644 9223. And see their status page at:

http://www2.fast24.net/support/status.asp

This isn't the first time Fast24 services have gone completely down. It happened in summer 2004 when vandals broke into a nearby BT exchange or something and blew a load of gaskets. It took then two days to get back up and running and I lost a heap of emails.

Like you, I'm seriously considering changing domain name host.

Good luck.

I have just checked the link and all is working for me, I have also checked and would say that perhaps someone missed renewing the domain name as according to my info it was renewed 12/12/2005.

Would think your FTP will work now.

Hi Kits - hmmm, www.domainbuster.com still appears to be down from where I'm looking. And neither my mail nor my sites are back up and running yet.

Thanks Unicast - I'll check out 123 Reg.

You will have to wait till the DNS to resolve it looks like there was a hitch in hte reregistration of it and this allowed it to expire.

The message I have been given by a Fast 24 rep
The issue is resolved and we all just have to wait for dns propogation to filter through.

I would make sure you allow plenty of time for your transfer to go through. Despite the message on the Domainbuster website saying it can take UP TO 2 days to complete, the reality is that although they can manage to renew their own domain name in no time at all it can take UP TO FIVE DAYS (according to their sales dept) to put through a simple pgp message to Nominet to change a TAG!!!
The excuse is that they have thousands of these requests to do (their own words) every day......makes you ask the question WHY? or perhaps their service provides the answer.

Cheers Zantos.

Are your websites/mail up and running yet? Mine aren't. I gather it can take up to 24 hours for the DNS to resolve.

Ggrr.

And one other thing Zantos - do you think mail sent to our accounts in the past 24 hours will be safe and will eventually get through to us? Or do you reckon it's "lost"?

Cheers,

My sites seem to be working - from work anyway, although at home I still can't get on to Domainbuster. I use mail forwarding from domainbuster and email "seems" to be coming through SLOWLY although I can't comment on whether any has been returned to the senders as unknown address.

My email eventually came thorugh, seemingly unscathed. And my sites are back up too. Hope yours are too Zantos.

I have been using 123-reg for a few years now god control panel and resonable renewal charges. You can point the domain to any webhosting you want and change as often as you need to at no extra charge.

End of the THIRD day that Fast24/Domainbuster have not changed the TAG on our domain BUT THIS WAS PUT AT THE TOP OF THE PILE ON MONDAY according to their sales department - heaven help those at the bottom!

Their site has managed to have it's domain registration renewed successfully a day ago shows that they consider themselves more important than their customers. They fail to respond to any emails regarding this even though their site says contact them if things take more than two days - seems a bit of a waste of time if they ignore the email BUT then again their site does say that internet services do not account for the majority of their business so bear this in mind if you are thinking of moving to Fast24 you will not be their highest priority.
