Fast4 Are A Joke... Please Do Not Sign Up

I am writing to advise anyone of thinking of joing this shambles of a company not to do it.

I'm not kidding..PLEASE DO NOT JOIN.

Briefly; i was with EURisp and had a 2MB service. Just Broadband nothing else. I wanted more so i looked at the ISP reviews and saw FAST4.

They offered free set up, migration, no long contracts, unlimited up to 8MB. Too good to be true!! (and it is but more of this later). So i contacted Eurisp and said that i wanted a MAC code to go to FAST4 unless they could offer up to 8MB for £15.95, the same as FAST4. They said they couldn't.

So off i trot to FAST4. I signed up, online, on July 10th. I was told it was a mere migration so it would be a matter of days before i was surfing up to 8MB (cue the music build up). Date: July 30th, a mere 20 DAYS (that was quick....not!!) after initial sign up and i have to threaten them that i will cancel if i don't get connected with them. HOORAH!!...i get connected all of a sudden. Wonderful. Now for my 8MB speedtest...i know it wont be exactly 8MB but i'm excited to see if i get 7MB..or 6MB...even 5MB. After the test....it's a massive 2MB. The same as EURisp. I do another speedtest at speedtest.net and it informs me (and still is to this day) that my ISP is EURisp and my speed is 2MB.

FAST4 inform me that they pipe there bandwidth through EURisp. Well, thats spooky. It's as like nothings changed (and it hasn't). So i ask FAST4 when i am going to get up to 8MB. They tell me that my "IP profile" (any ideas anyone?) is capped at 2MB until the line "settles in" and after 10 days my speed will be readjusted to the higher IP profile of 8MB....WOW!!!...excellent.

Well, it's 10 August and i tested my speed again...and Woosh!!...it's 2MB. I contacted FAST4 and they tell me it's been done and i should be experiencing up to 8MB. COMPLETE AND UTTER BULLSH*T!!!

I'm kind of getting the feeling that i will never get up to 8MB...Why??...well, if FAST4 pay EURisp for the srever access and EURisp can't offer me up to 8MB for £15.95 how the hell can FAST4 do it?....simple answer....they can't. Thats why i'm capped at 2MB...the same as i was when i was with EURisp. And so will everyone else be capped. It's smells like a bit of Advertising fraud to me. Offer 8MB and get 2MB. Then make excuses that it's the copper wires or you live too far from the BT exchange sir...or EURisp have a problem..or BT have a problem with the exchange...lies, lies and more lies.

I will be leaving FAST4 very shortly and they will lose cutomers because of the shabby way they treat the customer and the SH*T service they offer.

Let me ask this.....if i went to Marks and Spencers and saw a nice pair of trousers, went home and ordered them online for home delivery. When i get them they haver one trouser leg, not two as advertised. Would i have to accept this?..NO!!, because it's not what was advertised nor what i had ordered. Now, FAST4 are gulity of exactly the same thing, Offer up to 8MB and get 2MB. Not 3MB..not 4MB...not even 5MB...Why because they are capped by EURisp...

I challenge anyone to go to speedtest.net and do the test and post the download and upload speed and post the ISP detected. Does anyone get FAST4 as the ISP?...lets see eh?

Now, wheres the e-mail address for the Advertising Standards Authority and Ofcom.....

Hi TBoneKenobe Could you please complete a speed test on BTs tester http://www.speedtester.bt.com then post the results here this information will help me to see if you up and down sync plus BT profile for you.

Hi Kits,

I have just tested but it was an unfair result as i was P2P'ing at the time and forgot to switch it off.

The next test it wil let me do is in 30 mins....

I will retest then.

But it only gives me download speed not upload speed like speedtest.net does.

How will you deduce anything from this report?

which router you using and i will try to find out how you get to your line stats. :D

KITS,

If you have actually been regraded to ADSL Max, then the BT speedtest Kits provided a link to should also provide the IP Profile and sync rate your router has connected at.

If you are still on a 2mbps fixed rate product you will be automatically redirected to the old fixed rate BT speedtester:_ We will know from the output.

It is quite common for IP profiles to stick at 2mbps after a regrade, seems to happen more often on better lines. Some ISPs are better than others at chasing BT to get stuck profiles sorted.

Well Guys,

I'm sorry i dissapered so suddenly without any replies by at 9.45pm last night my connection was lost.

On my Belkin router the little green light that shows the connection (although a slow one and one that i hadn't ordered i must remind you) has suddenly gone Red.

Now i'm a bit of a cynic and call me Dandy Warhol but i would stake my house on it that FAST4 has disconnected me because they are unhappy that i have tumbled their little rip off game and they don't like to hear the truth.

Well, unfortunately for them i have a connection here at work and i will not stop until i get a full refund and a MAC code. They will be hearing from me whether they like it or not.

And i'm sure the next step is the controlling body that looks after customers rights as they should give me a MAC code whether they like it or not and wish me good ridance if that is the case. But to cut me off without a tiny little message from them??...Come on FAST4 you can do better than that.

They will be hearing form me very soon...and i re-iterate IF YOU ARE THINKING OF JOINING FAST4..DO SO AT YOUR OWN PERIL!!!

Hi TBoneKenobe

Last night many were disconnected and when they rebooted they came back on faster speeds. Have you tried removing stale sessions and rebooting the router?

Hi Nut,

Yeah, i did that it says active. I have been without a connection since Friday night at 9.45pm.

Now a question for all who read this...

AM I BEING TREATED FAIRLY??.....WOULD YOU PAY FOR A SERVICE LIKE THAT??...WOULD YOU EXPECT A REFUND??

Ok i know thats 3 questions but i just need some answers becuase i'm not getting them from FARCE4.

HELP!!...Don't us consumers have ANY rights or a legal body that will defend our rights?

ISPs are required by the Communications Act to be a member of a ADR (alternate Dispute Resolution Service) and abide by its rullings.

Fast4 eventually got around to joining Cisas http://www.cisas.org.uk/Members.asp

If you are unable to resolve a dispute with the ISP you can escalate it after 3 months or when the ISP sends a letter indicating a deadlock.

Oh and the ISP picks up all of CISAS's case costs and you are not bound by CISAS's descision, but the ISP is.
