Fast4 Threaten Customers

I have put an official complaint to the advertising standards agency, it seems its not the 1st time they have been in trouble, fast4 are THE worst isp I have ever known and should be banned from trading....PERIOD

Latest Update got nasty letter from their debt collection people, so I explained the situation and straight away they put the account on hold, got a letter from the advertising standards agency today saying they are in the process of contacting fast4 asking them for proof of there claims (should be fun) as the advert I sent them does not have the *terms and conditions wording this should be interesting lol

however the more people that complain the better so come on ex fast4 customers get ya writing hat on to all the relevant agencies etc and lets get fast4 accountable for thier actions!!!!

My fast4 horror story:

Had problems with previous supplier's FUP (Fair usage policy) so switched to fast4 who advertised "no FUP, no contract etc". Things were fine for a while, then suddenly without warning my speed dropped to around 128-256Kbs. After a WEEK of talking to support trying to fix an imaginary connection problem, I noticed the words "congestion control" on my account, so asked support about it.

Only then do they realise that they've capped my account (usage was about 60GB a month)!!! After complaining that stating "No FUP" was false advertising, that wording mysteriously disappeared from the website.

I requested a MAC code (which took 6 working days to arrive), and migrated. I was told I had to manual cancel the account at that point, which I did.

I was then charged £20 for the honour, and told my account would not be cancelled until the 25th of December!!

Can anyone advise whether they can do this? I have my broadband through another provider, can they charge me for a service they are not providing?

Complaint made to ASA regarding false advertising.

Complaint made to ASA regarding false advertising.

If you are complaining about the claims on the Fast4 website, then the ASA doesn't cover that, it is Trading Standards responsibility (same as advertising in a shop).

I believe Ofcom can also take action over misleading claims by ISPs, so you can complain to Ofcom as well. The ASA cover paid for adverts on independant websites, such as the Fast4 ads on this website, see the thread here:- http://www.ispreview.co.uk/talk/showthread.php?p=193313#post193313
