Finally fibre is coming

EDIT:
Seems that their website buries all their FTTP packages, I can't find anything about what they offer and their prices.
Also forgot to mention it’s such a pain the pricing is hidden however I stuck a postcode in for ruskington where they have nearly finished on rectory road which revealed the packages for me, I think it was 100 for £29 400 for £39 and 900 for £49 which I didn’t think was all that bad

It certainly has taken me by surprise too.

I did notice some workmen rodding the OpenReach underground ducting last November/December in the village and down my road but didn't think anything of it. I knew BT had shunned us too and nothing was being planned before the end of 2026, so never took any notice of which contractors were doing the works.

I do know there are several blocked ducts down my road as I applied for FTTPoD in 2020, during the lockdown, and they reported 3 blockages at the time. The install cost was around £16k, so I never went ahead with it and seeing their letter, I'm pleased I didn't now.

I haven't heard of the bidb before, could you please confirm that i have to correct website address (bidb.uk) as this one isn't working for me. I enter my postcode and all I get is..

'There was an error locating this postcode. Try again or enter a valid postcode. If you believe this is a bug, please use the contact form.'

I just wanted to make sure it's the same site you have mentioned before contacting them.
We were original in plans even the openreach checker said we were getting it back in 2019/2020 I think I even managed to get a date out of them but then it never came and decided to change their plans. We are due it before 2026 with OR but when is anyone’s guess!

I too looked at FTToD and the costs where similar - I’m about 1mile from our exchange so the cost was understandable.

It’s actually quite interesting earlier this week OR we’re actually carrying out a lot of pole work in heckington although this could be one of a few reasons - the poles needed replacing whether work was happening or not, maybe Quickline had asked for the poles to be replaced or OR are doing their usual trick and have seen an AltNet building and are getting ready to build them selves

Sorry about that, I think the captcha has flagged you. Is it still the case? you can PM me here

Thank you for the reply, thankfully it's working again now.
I apologise if I accidentally spammed your website checker though, I checked a couple of different postcodes at the time.

Thanks for this information, those prices do not seem to bad at all. I'm currently paying £75/month for Starlink so this should be a welcome reduction when Quickline eventually go live in my village.

Ah, my village has never been in scope for the OpenReach roll out, so that must have been really frustrating when they rescinded their rollout plan to you. We still aren't in any OR deployment plans before 2026 from looking at the information available for OR's commercial rollout.
In fact we only got FTTC in 2017 when they eventually installed a new cabinet in the village, the other local villages got their cabinets a couple of years earlier. However, looking on the bright side, they did install a cabinet when they could have easily left us behind.

My thoughts exactly with pricing, whether I go top package or 400 will be decided closer to the time but to know the prices aren’t too bad is promising.

Well atleast you got a cabinet in your village, unfortunately we are on the hybrid copper/aluminium line to our cabinet a mile away so our connection isn’t great at the best of times. I do know that OR had planned to install a cabinet in the village way before their FTTP plans as I have had access to their maps by email service but this never materialised and so just awaiting Quickline now. Interestingly two guys from Opal were in going around the village today to see what they could get installed. Unfortunately nothing outside ours yet roll on April for when they dig everything up to install the ducting etc

Following up on this, there's an alternative data source you can use by loading from https://bidb.uk/?rwmode=rwmu

It only works in England (sorry :(), there are no descriptions, and I can't guarantee it'll keep working forever.
Ah amazing very helpful! I was trying work out what was planned outside mine by using the description and ended up pulling my hair out although it does confirm my suspicions - despite the need to wait until April 😂

So after well over a year since openreach shelved their plans for fibre in our small village. I noticed today some guys in hi vis jackets walking past the house with Opals Group written in the back, didn’t think too much of it until I was told there some vans at the end of the road with Opals Group on them.

So I walked around the village to see what was happening. Spoke to the guys who had reels of yellow rodding and was in the manholes with blue rope. Asked them if they were doing anything exciting to be told they are installing FTTP on behalf of Quickline. They also made it clear that it will be a little while before anything will be live which of course I understand. But exciting none the less.

Has anyone had any experience with Quickline and their services?

I know this doesn't affect you but the Opal Group have got to Billingborough now, they were doing this same kind of work on the High Street today.

Going by the date of your original post, it seems I'm going to have a while to wait yet but for the both of us, at least we know it's on the way now.

Yeah it’s a wait and see for us - unfortunately our street will 3 months behind due to the fact they need to close the road!

Quickline has been around in the broadband market for a long time as a fixed wireless player, although they're fairly new to the FTTP game. But they seem to have good financial backing and management.

As to their service quality, it's far too early to judge on the FTTP side of things.
Just wondering where this particular service originates from being as they normally supply wireless 5G. Are they building a full fibre exchange, using the Openreach one or will it come from a wireless source?

They’ve built a new cabinet at the end of Oak Way in Heckington which I would expect is supplied with dark fibre and will then supply heckington, my village and the other villages joining the heckington build

I know it probably won't have changed for you from what you said about the roadworks being literally outside your house, but have you checked you postcode with Quickline today?

I've been checking postcodes for Heckington, Great Hale, Little Hale, Helpringham and Swaton today. It would appear Quickline are now live and taking orders for all villages except Swaton where they have no planned rollout.

Funny you should say this I was going to post an update - so I messaged Quickline today got an answer to say they are live and I can place an order. So I’ve now placed my order for the middle package at £39 a month for 400 down and 200 up. I actually don’t think they are live yet but we shall wait and see and obviously will continue to keep everyone updated on the process. Now just waiting on an install date from them and at some point they need to take my payment details

Hopefully you'll be able to get it installed very quickly., However like you, I do find it difficult to believe that Quickline will be 'live' in your area yet, especially going by all the roadworks listed on the brilliant bidb website.

Time will tell, please keep us updated.

Works here on the Billingborough area build, they are just at the 'rod n roping' plus road painting stage, so many months away yet.
They do have a local Q&A session at the pubs in Billingborough, Pointon and Folkingham end of nest week, so I may visit one of those to see what they have to say.

Ah so I got an email back this morning following the order to confirm that no they aren’t live yet but will be in contact when it is to arrange install date. Doesn’t surprise me as they are yet to install the Toby boxes outside on our street

Also interesting you mention about q&a sessions, they haven’t announced any for us yet so I will be keeping an eye on that

Hardly surprising really that they aren't live yet considering all the roadworks still ongoing in the area for Quickline.

It will be interesting to see whether they will wait until all the works are completed (including down your street) before they go live or whether they will switch the other areas on once all the other works are competed and then make yours live once works are done.

We had a leaflet through the post about the Quickline Q&A sessions last week, they also have one in the Morton pub in a couple of weeks time too. Going by this it seems the build to my village is part of a much bigger rollout compared to the Heckington build. From what I can work out this build is going to include 12 villages.

Yeah it’s what I expected tbh but they have been back out in the village today pulling fibre along the main road so it’s here in the village just not on my street yet! 😂

I drove through heckington earlier coming back from work and they have now out posters out looking like they say that end has gone live so not 100% sure but guess it’s a wait and see!

Yeah I think I will just wait until we get a leaflet but that’s interesting you say you are part of a much bigger build it’s crazy since I spoke to onlincolnshire and they mentioned there would be a procurement but not until next year or something so good to see progress already

Adding in prices for any others who come along, fixed IP address is an extra £5 a month. Live down Millview Road as well, have sent some questions to their sales team I'm waiting on as to which router they provide and whether you need a landline contract, I'm assuming not.

No contract prices:

Thanks for sharing those. Out of interest how did you find out about the £5 extra for a static IP?
I did manage to get rough go live date out of them being early April.

I’ve personally gone for the Quickline Extra package. Will be interesting to hear what router etc they have and in reality it will just be nice to have a reliable internet connection!

I’m pretty sure they don’t do landlines so if you still want a phone line you would either have to keep that active or move over to a voip service, something I am going to have to look into
