finally got my system fixed, cant be bothered to look up the board number but its an asus and its an amd II X2 250 not too bad so far tho lve spent 8 hours sorting out my crap T_T

Well that's normal but it's better than the old days when re-building a PC required intimate technical knowledge of exact settings, jumper positions and voltage before you could get the damn thing to even boot :) .

I still have the surgical tweezers I used to move all those awkwardly placed jumpers :)

LOL, that would get me.. lve never been the best at math its so nice pretty much all boards do the settings themselves these days.. l hated multipliers etc..

only thing lm wondering about atm is tho l have a high pitched sound coming from my box, its weird.. temps and everything are fine its like a very high just audible dog wistle sound, lm assuming its from the PSU (tho its brand new) its a 600W one, tho l have connected to my UPS l was somewhat aprehensive originally due to how my old mobo/gfx/PSU/CPU issue..

technically tho l believe my system issue was gfx/mobo failure but felt it apt to change PSU, the chip well l just wanted a better one than my mate XD but lm assuming the high pitched sound is PSU related.

Open it up and have a listen ;) .

I usually find that any high pitch sounds will either come from the CPU fan or the GPU fan. Most of the time PSU's just have a fairly slow but big fan that does not rotate fast enough to cause a high pitch noise. If it happens to be coming from a capacitor on the mobo (unlikely but not impossible) then call the bomb squad hehe.

well from what l can tell its coming from the bottom of the case which is the PSU area, tho that area is close to the GPU.

in fact the GPU is also new as well, its a Radeon HD 4650 w/1gb DDR2, l did ask my mother to listen but she couldnt hear the sound so it seems lm the only one who can tho it does seem somewhat intermittent so maybe it is a fan or lm just reading too much into things.. after all my old setup did go and well l am worried about the issue happening again and dislike the idea of going back to the EeeBox

oh and before l get the board is an Asus M4A78, on another note there was a switch which seemed attached to the top fan for speeds.. you see l had to replace my case because of some issues with the interior chassis.. tho l am looking into replacement as the damage was very hard to tell unless one was doing a system overhaul whats more even tho the outside was asthetically sound lve had it for a while and only an issue such as what has happened meant something could be seen, the shop pretty much said it took an amazing wallop to cause the damage.. they likened it to someone putting a foot into the inside of the case and stamping.. and l must admit when l first purchased l did complain about the delivery company as they were not being gentle with packages.
