have you checked what's installed and disabled / deleted anything that you no longer need?
in firefox and windows.

It could be an exploit in an extension you're using too, but I'm just guessing. Might be worth removing some as a test since some may stay in the system when you reinstall FF.

There is an update this week, try that and see what happens, before you do tho, clear out cookies and private info.
I dont understand why you need the google toolbar, Firefox has its own customisable toolbars . I am not saying thats to blame but try turning that off before you update

heh heres me with only minimal addons :P only have like 3 that l use and tend to be very careful about not adding more than that.

thats actually an interesting point.. to that note l will make it easier for tomtom to check:

download this: http://www.funkytoad.com/download/HostsXpert.zip

its a program that connects to the hosts file and tells you whats in it and allows it to be edited as well

its one hell of allot easier than going:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\ then opening the file called hosts with notepad

why whats wrong with having addons?

i have the google bar for the autofill on forms because im lazy :)

thanks 4 all suggestions i shall try them when i get home, currently @ work

the way l see it the more addons you have the less secure one is.. as a browser Firefox is great however the addons arnt made by forfox and theres always a possibility that there are exploits within them.

me to however l just go for the minimalistic feel by just using what l specifically need.

That looks like a betting site, my guess is malware aimed at the Japanese market.

You run a spyware/malware scanner??

sometimes tho the infection is just too deep for scanners and you have to improvise and use two or three..

if you wanna try something easier then try http://www.hitmanpro.nl/hitmanpro/content/view/3/9/lang,en/

runs like 4 scanners and its own one if l remember correctly lve only found some of the real nasty stuff to be left once completed but its a good possibility this will clean the problem.

looking at your favourites bar you have a couple of bits of links that imply spyware. mypath etc
you are being redirected as the bbc.co.uk is def not the BBC

run an online checker like trend micros housecall, check your hosts file and make sure a proxy has not been set but you are going to have to remove the spyware, interesting that ie is still ok though.

worth having a look at your firefox extensions (add ons as well)
good luck and I suggest that you DO NOT use your online banking until clean (and change your password)

Thanks for all help, im dowloading that hitman pro now looks pretty good,

that my path thing is nothing to worry about its one of my girlfriends sites. I have just disabled all of the add ons and now it nothing comes up... ill try a few more suggestions Cheers
