Free Cellmapping eSIMs

Just thought I'd share some of the free eSIMs we've tried if anyone's interested in cellmapping.

Would highly recommend getting the proper SIMs if possible for the best experience but free eSIMs still work fairly fine for it.

Be careful though that these free eSIMs will usually have a catch of some sort.

As a quick note, [VoLTE] listings for EE means that it is able to access B20/28 on macro sites and B3/7 on certain micros. Three has removed this requirement lately.

Firsty 5G Access on most devices

Networks available are EE [VoLTE], 3 UK, O2 - UK and vodafone UK (VF seems to only work on 2G for me)

Downsides: Requires app (phones without eSIM support will not be able to generate an eSIM), 100kbps speed limit once you've used initial 100MB Fast allowance, Requires users to watch video advertisements every hour to have browsing time

Red Bull MOBILE 4G Access

Networks are vodafone UK and 3 UK with limited EE access in low signal conditions

This is ran by an Austrian mobile operator, A1. You'll get 100MB for free and you'll have to pay for any extra. Use the code "TRAVELDEALZ" (not an affiliate code) for 1GB free to add to your 100MB (only lasts a year).

Downsides: Requires app, no 5G

Firsty 5G Access on most devices

Networks depend on SIM (EE, Vodafone and O2 on Play PL eSIMs and EE only on KPN NL eSIMs)

Downsides: Requires app (phones without eSIM support will not be able to generate an eSIM), 300kbps speed limit once you've used initial 100MB Fast allowance, Requires users to watch video advertisements every hour to have browsing time

Red Bull MOBILE 4G Access

Networks are vodafone UK and 3 UK with limited EE access being reported, 3 UK may appear buggy/unusable on some eSIMs (my experience)

You can access multiple networks now on the KPN one. Ive accessed 2, one saying its forbidden. No clue which one is which since they all display Firsty :ROFLMAO: On speedtest it is displayed as Tata communications. No clue.

Surprised I didn't change it. I have access to O2, EE and Three + Vodafone 2G.

Red Bull also has EE access although I believe it to be limited, I got it to work in a town centre where Vodafone and O2 had awful signal in places and EE had 4G/Three had 3G

Yeah with firsty I could not force 5G with EE, no signal. I do live in a 5G area for them.

Mine displays as KPN on the speedtests btw.

Red Bull usually goes to Vodafone when I turn it on, however it has gone to Three occasionally. I stand by that EE is limited though, just tried connecting and no connection. EE has the worst connection of the 4 networks (-118dBm on B3 compared to about -80dBm on Vodafone B20 and -112dBm on Three B28) anyways, Three connected just fine.

Choose network on Red Bull
