"Samba was founded in 2010 by two very experienced specialists from the mobile and advertising sectors."
Experienced in spamming forums, perchance?

A friend of mine uses this on their iPad.
It's easy to burn through the data within minutes if watching streaming media but seems to be quite a good trade off if you want email on the go without paying anything!

The last time I saw him using it one or more of the advertising slots were "EXAMPLE" which doesn't bode well for the longevity of their business if they are struggling to find advertisers.

In other news, GiffGaff have started enforcing the "no tethering" rules, my lodger is distraught, he has been running his thriving internet business off of a £10 a month goody bag for a couple of years, downloading ~ 100Gb per month of films to watch as well!!

Actively enforcing or just thinking about it / "have a project" to do it?
I saw the consultation documentation which said it was on the cards, amazed they enabled it so quickly if they are already actively enforcing it.

Actually I was, but even though I told him he could only do large downloads between 00:00 and 08:00, he still managed to get through 15Gb of peak usage in 3 days!!!

Now I am keeping a careful eye on his usage; if it gets too high I will QOS his connection.

OMG 100GB (I assume you meant GB not Gb?) off a mobile broadband connection? Well no wonder they're clamping down as that's going to cost them a bomb. Mobile capacity is much more expensive than fixed line.

Just to put that in to perspective if they did that amount of downloading while on holiday outside of the EU it would cost roughly £3/4m in data charges, £300k inside the EU thats going off O2's price lists.

Sorry, yes that should have been Gb, not GB; my bad - even so..........

If no one else is reporting issues, then perhaps they are only enforcing it on the really extreme over users.
