Free Photoshop Express

Looks like Adobe are going to be releasing a cut down version of their image editing software for photos -

While it's still a teaser at the moment, John Nack (senior product manager for Photoshop) has confirmed the development of Photoshop Express. It's a free online photo editor that's not meant to replace Adobe's current offerings, but "make Adobe imaging technology immediately accessible to large numbers of people." ...

:hrmph:

The cut-down version is already available as Photoshop Elements, of course. As I read the story, this is new software, but I suspect it will draw heavily on the Photoshop engine.

Hmmm I wonder if they want to undercut Corels Paint Shop Pro, which still has a strong standing among the budget market. Then there's the simple but free Paint.NET software.

I sense, knowing something of the way Adobe think, that this will be designed to draw users into buying Photoshop - a bit like student bank accounts are designed to gain custom in later life.

Could be useful of "on the fly" editing round at friends and relatives houses, I suppose.
