Freeserve & Access Denied

Anybody else experienced this.

If I connect with Freeserve, I can browse fine and see any sites at all.

However, if for any reason, I can't get on with Freeserve, and I use an alternative dial-up. Every page I try to view comes up with "Access Denied due to Access Control List".

I have tried 0845 & 0808 to no avail. Content Advisor is disabled and no acl files are running (as far as I can see). I have spoken to ISP's concerned, most of whom said straight away - have u got Freeserve. They didn't know a solution, but seemed to think Freeserve was the cause.

I spoke to Freeserve, but they pleaded no knowledge!!

HELP!!

Check your non-Freeserve connection settings - trying to use Freeserve's proxy server by any chance? If so, just untick it. (I just leave it unticked even for FS connection - doesn't seem to make any difference.)

Btw, in case you didn't know, there are 4 FS Anytime numbers, all of which are non-chargeable to subscribers. If you can't connect on your recommended one, see if any of the others work (not all work on all exchanges) - 08089916001, 08089933006, 08089977001, 16164208452402602. FS like people to use the one they get from
https://www.freeserve.com/membercentre/youraccount/anytime/ but they won't throw you off if you use another from time to time if you're having connection problems.

No, thats not ticked. I'm completely flummoxed. I've tried removing connections, checking registry etc. No ideas ata ll.

I suggested that because it's exactly the message I got when I tried browsing with another ISP but using the Freeserve proxy. But if you've tried removing connections and setting new DUN connections and it's still the same, and if the connection settings (not LAN settings) aren't ticked for proxy server use, I don't know the answer. You might have better luck asking in the Freeserve newsgroups.

ACLs are set up in NT/2k (presumably XP pro) to limit what people can do on a computer. An access control list is associated with each system object, the system administrator or the object owner creates the access control list for an object. If you are using 2k/nt etc are you logged on as an administrator?
