from Tiscali to BE! help me decide

Hello.
Im at the moment with tiscali but getting my MAC soon!
Tiscali are having a bad time at the mo by not supplying customers with the service they pay for, including me.
My speeds with them at the mo is less than 0.5meg, and im on 8meg unlimited!
Im thinking of joining BE as my exchange in now enabled!
However, looks too good to be true! 24meg for 24 quid! compared with eclipse or pipex (my other favourites) they cant be beat (on paper), but is it really as good as it seems??

When tiscali IS working i get around 4.5meg when doing a speed check,
what could i expect from BE?
Are the call centres in the UK?

Please help me decide!

Many thanks
Ant

I'm a BE customer and i'm very happy. Yeh its not the cheapest ISP in the world but if you look at the Free/Cheap gang of ISP's you'll soon see its a case of you get what you pay for. I like you was syncing on ADSL Max at approx 5mb so here's the bad news, you won't get anywhere near 24 mb. At the moment i'm synced at 11mb down and 1.2ish up. I tend to max my connection in the late evening/early morning but during the rest of the day it performs circa 75-85% of the max but ovbiously depends where your downloading from.

The call centres are London based i think, although many of the staff are not English they do speak it very well, i like many other customers find the email ticket system works much better than phoning. The respond to them within 12 or so hours. Altogether i find it worth the £28 i pay them and MUCH pefer it to the BT product i had with Eclipse.

Yep they do seem to know what they are doing. I am quite impressed although when you call you are speaking to a Bulgarian they speak good english, you'll only get 24mb if you are very near like 100m to the exchange I guess, but anything over 8mb it has to be good, and the the 3 month contact is far better than the 12 month one many ISP's still have. Hopefully by the end of this month I should be... with Be... myself :D

I seems I will get about 15mb where I am acc to various sites like dsl zone. I just wish there was a wireless ISP with these speeds than I could ditch the rip off line rental
