There's a long backstory to this - in short, it took Vodafone two weeks after an Openreach committed date for a new line install to get an FTTC line working. Predicted speeds 60-75Mbit but actual sync 27. Vodafone have jumped straight to "we'll let you out of your contract" rather than trying to fix it. Migrating to A&A as my only hope of fixing that line.
One of the things that went wrong was FTTC suddenly showing as 'waiting list' during the process and Vodafone telling me after the drop cable and NTE went in that there were no FTTC ports available. All this while the modem had sync at 27Mbit...
Someone kindly asked an Openreach contact what was going on - OR replied saying it was confusion and there were "plenty" of spare ports available on the cabinet. FTTC status went back to 'available' and the order completed.
I've since ordered a second line through another CP with a minimum speed guarantee. My order went through and got a committed date - but since then the postcode has changed to 'waiting list' again.
Has anyone ever seen cabinets fluctuate in and out of availability despite there being plenty of empty ports? What else could be going on, cable faults? Checking addresses on other DPs but the same PCP gives identical results, so it's not just my DP.
