FTTC planned

There was some recent cabling work done in my area (somewhere only ADSL <10Mbps is currently available). So,
in the beginning of November, I noticed that the BT website broadband availability checker started showing that Fibre 2 is available for my postcode/address but when I try to complete the order, I get an error message. Also, the BT wholesale broadband checker service shows that FTTC is “Planned” rather than “Available” for the cabinet for my postcode with the message “At this time, we cannot provide a delivery date for this cabinet”.
Also, comparison websites such as uswitch and cable show that fibre 2 is available for my postcode.
Why is there a discrepancy in the results of these availability checker services and does anyone have an idea of how long it takes to go from “Planned” to “Available”?

Postcode based checks are not accurate and should be considered a rough guide, so the only ones that will give you a close to correct answer must use your full address. Try using the full address checker on the BT Wholesale check (it's on a small link at the bottom of the first page) and see what it says, but if it's not yet 'Available' via that then no ISP will be able to supply it yet.

I think you must be one of the last to be getting FTTC since almost all new deployments now are done via FTTP.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for replying. With my exact address and current phone number, I see that FTTC availability date is showing as ‘Planned’ rather than ‘Available’ with the message “At this time, we cannot provide a delivery date for this cabinet”.

Wonder if there is any rough timescales for going from ‘Planned’ to ‘Available’?

One thing you could try is asking via Openreach's Twitter based help channel. https://twitter.com/OpenreachHelp

For some reason that's one of their most effective means of external communications with consumers.
