Afternoon all,

I was wondering if anyone has been in the same situation as me and can help to get an answer.

Approx 18 months ago we had a new cabinet installed for FTTC which gives me suitable speeds, however in the past 3 weeks i've been openreach engineers laying reams and reams of new cable underground on my road.

Unfortunately both times i've come across them I have been unable to stop and query what is going on.

I have contacted BT who said 'the system shows work has been done and to wait a few months' but what she can't tell me is if that's

- Increasing capacity
- adding FTTP capabilities
- installation of a new cabinet

All I want to know is what the work in the area is doing. Who can I go to to get these answers ? (i've alreeady tried Superfastleicestershire (my postcode is LE67 1GB)

Hi Shane, the postcode says FTTC is available and taking orders. Without full address not sure on how acurate it is but I selected lowest address one from middle and one from bottom of list all say available try yourself.

https://www.homeandwork.openreach.co.uk/when-can-i-get-fibre.aspx

Also put postcode into https://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/ADSLChecker.address then select your address sad thing all I checked seemed to be getting 22Mbps or less on FTTC.

No mention of FTTP except on demand plus from what BT announced originally FTTP would not be offered where FTTC was available.

Your lucky, we had a FTTC cab installed 3 years ago and still NO power or fibre. It's still virgin, this proves how great BT are.

You could try contacting Openreach directly, but since your cabinet has already been upgraded then if you did manage to get a reply they'd probably just reiterate that. In this case the easiest solution is sometimes to just stop and ask one of the engineers doing the work.

It might be that they need to install cabling for a new cabinet further along, which serves a different area.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I should have explained a bit more. We do currently have FTTC. I was just curious as to why they were installing loads of new cables and if it would impact the road directly by giving us a speed boost (currently 18mbps) or if they were just fixing a dodgy line.

I have emailed Openreach directly, lets see what response I get
