FTTP and PSTN - at the same time?

Hi, so I am probably one of the few people still on a PSTN line from Now Broadband. I also have an FTTP line in my home.

I haven't switched to FTTP as I wish to keep my traditional landline for as long as physically possible.

Now, the broadband that comes with it is slow.

Is it possible for me to order broadband on the FTTP line and leave my PSTN line as it is? Or will it cancel the PSTN line? Thanks.

You need to make sure you get an order for FTTP from a provider who knows what you want. Most mainstream (Vodafone, TalkTalk etc) will treat it as a migration and cancel the line. Speaking to a more competent ISP first to let them know you want it to run alongside will fix this.

Tbh though you should just port the landline to voip and then get a physical handset that supports voip.

I am also on a PSTN line from Now broadband, so I'm either one of the "few" or there are more of the few than you think.
I'm currently on a "deal/offer" from Now broadband and when that runs out there's a good chance the price they offer won't be cheap, and it will be cheaper to move to FTTP.
If the price offered by Now dramatically increases for FTTC then my plan is to get FTTP installed, keeping the (by then expected to be expensive) Now broadband line for a very short while until its number is ported over to a VOIP provider, having both services running for a short amount of time.
Hopefully they won't touch the PSTN line and just install a new FTTP line as I'm not intending to port the number - the property is fed from an overhead line, and other properties in the area have two lines from the pole attached
