Fttp deployment

Hi all, just a quick question my area is due to be rolled out with fttp in the "near" future, we have fttc & the cab is approx. 300m away & my home is fed by pole. I am about the sixth pole in the line & was wondering how the fibre would hopefully get to my house ? does it run from pole to pole overhead from the cab or in some other way ? & what should I look out for on the pole as in new equipment etc ? many thanks for any info as am completely in the dark regarding such things.

When we had FTTP installed in our office it went in via a existing pole, the best thing I could suggest is using BT's Broadband Availability Checker to check on updates about FTTP, its what we recommend to all our customers waiting for broadband services to become available - https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL

Many thanks for the info, but was wondering how it was physically deployed by pole.

Firstly, in most cases the fibre won't be coming from your nearby cabinet (though this is now possible with a recent development), there will instead be a node somewhere (often underground) and it's fed from there.

They'll use a similar approach to the existing copper line, assuming that comes via the poles too. So an optical fibre cable will be taken from a CBT terminal on the pole and run to your wall, then down to an external wall box (positioned wherever it needs to enter your property). The ONT is then installed on the inside.

Thankyou very much for the info this is very helpful, will be looking out now for any pole work ^^
