FTTP Installation

So they installed full fibre in my street about 4 weeks ago, and the guy installing told me i should able to order it from my isp within 2 weeks.

but i still cant seem to order it as says not available

does anyone know how long it takes until it goes live and is there a openreach contact to speak to?

Not all full fibre work done on roads is automatically an Openreach FTTP deployment. The person you spoke to may have been rolling out FTTP for an altnet, as much as it could have been Openreach. If you know it was Openreach though, you should check on the BT Wholesale Availability Checker using the address checker [via post code] or enter your UPRN [if you know it]: https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/

If you have access to openreach full fibre, you will see WBC FTTP listed and build notes below the table, indicating if you will have a fault-free install or some limitations that require resolution by them. If it is not yet live but there has been a deployment, you will see FTTP On Demand but with 1000mbps download speed and 220mbps upload speed: this just means they’ve built it out, but it is not ready for service, or you may not be served by the nearby PON that they have built.

If no openreach deployment has occurred, you will see FTTP On Demand but only 330mbps download speed with 50mbps upload speed. This may mean the data hasn’t been provided to wholesale yet, or you were seeing build work for an altnet.

Where are you? It could be part of a specific project rather than the normal commercial build and just taking a bit longer to work it’s way through the commissioning process.

It might be visible in your street but also bear in mind that they might still be doing a load of work getting it up and running, especially if it's a more widespread deployment - possibly things like splicing into the ag-node(s), doing work in the local exchange, doing quality inspections and so forth. There's potentially a lot of work that has to be done beyond installing the splitter in your streeet. Fingers crossed it will be reflected in the database in the not too distant future for you, assuming as Green Meanie said, it's a general rollout rather than something specific.

Fibre went available straight away really for my street. My friend in next street went available 3 weeks later ( today in fact ) He has ordered this morning and they are coming Monday. He hopes anyway. Openreach site has not changed and showing as unavailable but BT checker says good to go.

this is the site, you should use for openreach fttp* and use the address option - just put your postcode. The openreach website can lag

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL

*for sky and voda, who put their own cablelinks in the headend exchanges will have their own checkers which can sometimes be quicker than or. Last year i saw some parts of our village lag 3 months to voda and sky.

The commissioning side, can take 1 to 4 weeks, and sometimes you will see whole blocks done at the same time. The team who did our section, did the install and commissioning and its rather involved to go to rfs as they have to match everything up correctly for the db side.

For Openreach, It was the exact same day the cable went up on my overhead telegraph pole that my address checker went from FTTPod available to WBC FTTP available to order.

However, on my estate, my house/street was one of the last streets to go live and around the corner it was about 3 months they had FTTP available before it was installed to my street.
