FTTP internet

Hi there! So currently I have a fixed FTC line (Openreach) my contract has run out (BT)

So in my area FTTP Openreach & City Fibre is available houses only! Flats not available yet!

When I asked my management agency they said as it not communal area and private matter please contact Openreach & city fibre!

City fibre said:
We are still building in your area! Unfortunately it looks like we don't have permission from your managing agent to install Full Fibre in your property. Find out how to connect your property to our full fibre network below. (Told me earlier in the year nothing we can do till your management agency contact us)

Openreach have messaged them but reply yet!

Should it be my job to contact OR/CF to get FTTP installed into my flat or should the management agency be doing that so all flats can have it!

Sounds like a wayleave issue. You’ve not really got any leverage with Openreach (or CF) as you’re neither their customer (an ISP) or the person with permission to grant wayleaves on the property they need access through.

Suggest you approach the managing agent / property owner / etc - whomever has wayleave control about what their plans are to allow access to telcos to provide FTTP. Anything else is frankly a fruitless exercise.

Whoever owns the property needs to approach either CityFibre or Openreach and make the request for this. Openreach are the better and faster one at ironing out these issues from what I have seen. CityFibre are very hit and miss and often seem to take much longer.

As above, don't expect anything to move quickly. If you are out of contract with BT either sign a new contract to get a good price (With BT, or any other provider who does FTTP upgrades mid-contract) explore other options like 5G Home broadband if you have a need for faster download speeds immediately.

If the property owner repeatedly claims that it's not their problem, reach out to a specialist provider like IDNet or A&A. Both of these offer services via both the Openreach AND CityFibre infrastructure, and are a lot better at communication than most ISPs are - Both between themselves and the customer, but also between themselves and the infrastructure networks. Hopefully they can work at the mediator between yourself and Openreach to find out what needs to be done in order to get your building connected. Openreach will always discuss these matters in more depth with an ISP and don't really like talking to end users at all.

Update I have rung management agency!

A lovely lady is gonna contact Openreach/city fibre will be a few weeks as she is on holiday next week! And said the answer is yess shouldn’t be a problem yay 🥳

will most likely be January time I will be connected!

So the first one to be connected I will join happy days

I think your timelines are incredibly optimistic, especially if the process of granting the wayleave isn't going to start until mid-December.

The lady said she will contact OR/CF via filling out the wayleaver forum this week then once she is back from holiday 2nd December she will check for reply see what they say!

She said January at the earliest but more likely February dunno how long these things take

update that’s the response from management agency!

So looking like Management agency has approved FTTP from Openreach so they have put us in their build plans which once an order has been placed it will be about 6-8 weeks till we can get connected!

Been told to contact Openreach in a few weeks to see what the update is but now down to them!

I have replied saying thank you & please can you give Permission to city Fibre as well!

So here is pic of email

Keep an eye on the BT Wholesale checker for your address, which should indicate when you ought to be able to place an order for an FTTP-based service.

Once your chose ISP can accept an order, they will in turn instruct Openreach. You wont be able to instruct or place an order with Opnreach yourself - as that email seems to intimate.

Good luck with it all 👍

Thank you!

So it sounds like Management agency has authorised FTTP yay 🥳

Once Openreach starts the build process! I will
be able to order FTTP that will then get the ball rolling so all the flats are connected might take a while!

So will check over the next few weeks to see if I can order FTTP
