FTTP Provision on Existing ONT

Recently had FTTP installed by OR via BT, the engineer entered the wrong ont serial, so it never worked after helpfully going red when the engineer had left. BT are too incompetent to fix it, and OR dont care.

I noticed with IDNet, they ask for an ont serial number during sign up, so wondered if anyone else had migrated to an existing ONT ?

If the wrong serial number has been entered then it can be updated by Openreach once they been notified by BT, are you in contract with BT as they won't allow you to leave as long as they can fix the issue which it seems to have been identified.

Waited a month for OR to turn up or do something, nothing ever happened, so i cancelled the order. BT had no idea what i was talking about, it's a joke of a company now, want nothing to do with them.

"Recently" and not resolved?
March of this year. It caused so many issues, i gave up on FTTP until switchover, then i came across IDNet and seen how it could be a quick fix without too much effort.

I think would have persevered. Sometimes too much information to a order handling centre can confuse. "My broadband doesn't work and there is a red (or no) light on my ONT" should have been enough.

The original issue will still exist and the OR records may show that an ONT is now present. So most ISP to OR orders will assume no engineering visit is required. CS on the larger ISPs may be too generic but IDNET tends to do everything on-line. You may be better to go for A&A, Zen etc who may be able to pursue issues at a more detailed level.

Most ISPs have read access to the OR scheduling systems and can make note entries against tasks.

Thanks. I can order monthly without any connection fee, and they will have the right serial. Any issues, it's down to them to chase OR if they want to keep me onboard.

There must be a reason they ask for the serial number, maybe to quickly smooth out issues like this.
