FTTP Speed dropping to a crawl in the early afternoon

Our village got FTTP about a year ago and I opted for the 900/100 package which has been amazing until about two weeks ago
Since then download speeds only have dropped off at around 2 pm every day to around 50MB (yes 50 on a 900 package)

I run Opnsense so I can see there is no other traffic at the time causing the drop-off in speed. Then around 10 pm all returns to normal.

Uploads stay consistent at around 100MB even during the download issue.

I had always believed that these crazy speed drops were a thing of the past with FTTP.

Has anyone come across something similar and got to the bottom of it? I'm suspecting some type of contention somewhere but losing 95% of the speed seems a bit much.
I even tried connecting to the ONT with a PPPoE connection and got the same crap results so I'm pretty sure it's not my network or my equipment.
