FTTP users: how reliable is this service?

Hi,

We are in process with the fibre community partnership from Openreach to sign up for FTTP to our humble lane. I was wondering how reliable are your FTTP connections? Since we are like a school setting (we are not, but similar with many people and different groups relying on internet) and wonder about the need for a backup connection if the main line goes awry.

So, I wonder how has your experience be with FTTP? It would be great if you can say something about:

1) how long did you have FTTP
2) do you have to reset the ONT or replace it? Or any calls you needed to make to get something fixed?
3) does the PPPoE connection remains stable from the ONT to your modem?
4) do you also have a larger site, and how did you plan to have something in backup? (E.g. Second line or higher care contract?)

Thanks, hope you can share something!

I suspect you might be hard pressed to find many actual customers with Openreach FTTP lines as its availability is currently very limited, although that will change over the next couple of years. Right now though it's a bit needle in the haystack. I'll see if I can direct some users to your post.

@Mark.J

Thanks.... when I search for FTTP info it seems that is such a wealth of info with people talking about their FTTP connections.... :(

Was assuming all those FTTP people must be using their connection to read ISPreview :drool:
