G.Fast Speeds

I've noticed that the G.Fast speeds on our cabinet are only 175/138 (clean) and 142/95 (impacted), our FTTC speeds are 80/68 (clean) and 80/67 (impacted) with top speed achieved being 73

Are the speeds for G.Fast low compared to other areas?

Yes G.Fast are bad speeds unless you live right at the cabinet.

Generally those speeds seem fair for G.fast, but we can't compare with so little detail about the exact property. An added complication is that G.fast comes from pods on PCP cabinets, which are not always in the exact same location as FTTC / DSLAM cabinets (usually within around 100 metres of each other but short distances mean a lot to G.fast).

Stay where you are on FTTC. G.fast are pointless and overpriced. You are paying for 160/30 or 330/50 but more likely you might end up less speed than 160/30 and no chance of 330/50. Beware of upload could worse than FTTC.

our number now reports 305-330 for g.fast but can still only go the 160mb

It all depends what package your on with your ISP, are you on the package which does allow up to 330?

isp have advised that at the moment they can only order 160mb package as an engineer install (last week the cab was reporting amber as only recently been installed) due to capacity, but have said if the higher speeds become available I can upgrade without any further activation fees as won't need an engineer.

on checking bt order pages they also show only 160mb can order, but on the checker with line number and postcode it shows the higher speeds (i have heard that sometimes the figures can be wrong until lines are activated)

update: (had to create a new account as can't reset passwords on account)

Went live today with G.Fast and connected at 160/30 - 2nd person to go live on our cabinet, engineer did advise my line can currently sync at 350 and possible reason why there is a cap is due to uncertainity if the speeds will be fine once capacity is full and that all installs are currently engineer installations only.

Also was supplied new modem

i'm getting around 140Mbps down and 29Mbps up through Zen

still no info if can get the higher speeds through them

If I telnet into my router it tells me what it is syncing at plus what your line could attain.
