Galaxy A22 5g as a Modem replacement - Ping too high and download speed too low after a while.

Hey Guys,

I am currently using my Galaxy A22 5g as a modem at Home. The a22 connects via Ethernet dongle to my router. So far so good.
The only problem which I have is that after a while my ping starts to increase (from usually around 10 to 60) and my download speed decreases (from 230 to 50-60 Mbit). But this changes after I am using the a22 directly and doing a Speedtest on the phone.
I am not sure why this is happening. It could be related to some battery saving options, which are all turned of…
I’ve read that some of you guys are using the a22 as a 5g modem at home, maybe Someone of you has or had the same issue and could point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the replies! I‘ve tested it and it seems like that it is always using the same cell. Can you point me to a good app which maybe has a history so that I can watch it.
It’s weird since it always is fast when I am using the a22 and after using it the speeds on the other devices are good as well.
It seems like that there is some kind of weird stand by

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.mroczis.netmonster logs a history of connected cells

I think you guys were right. I logged the connections and apparently the cells do change. How can I prevent this from happening?

Hi everyone,
I've found the solution.
I have been using Samsung Toolkit 2.0 app to unlock 5G NR / 4G LTE bands on my Samsung phone. This app uses a System Shell exploit to get system-level privileges on any unpatched Samsung device without unlocking the bootloader or using a PC or cable. With this app, you can easily launch a Band Selection app and keep it open in your recent apps screen. With this you can select which band you want to use.

The app is available on Google Play Store and you can find more details and instructions in this Reddit post: click

I hope this helps anyone who is looking for a simple way to do this on a Samsung smartphone

Do not update your device, as the newer updates fix that exploit, make sure auto update is turned off.

Yes I've read about that. Is there anything else to do with the Samsung toolkit beside lock bands which could be useful? Although I thought about rooting the phone but I'm not sure if this will be useful for my use case..
