Gaming ISP

I am fed up with freedom2surf's poor service and slow response times. Are there any decent gaming specific ISPs anyone can suggest?

Bourbon

I play alot of online games like CSS,BF2,WOW I personally use Demon and get very good Response times but I wouldn`t recomend them now because of their outsourced support, so I would say ZEN. Allot of the people I know who use them for gaming get good response times and they have NO Fair usage policy or download limits which is good when some of the patches for MMORPG can be gigs sometimes:D

Nildram is also excellent for pings; however they do have a tendency to over-subscribe on some busier urban exchanges, causing congestion. I don't believe this to be hugely widespread though.

Not had any problems with NDO..BF2 with UK servers is tops.

Leaving Tiscali at the end of May, costs me more ringing their complaints department to cancel contract then it would to stick it outI have a ps3 and cod 4 was my main game until they stopped me playing it between 4-11pm, so i couldnt play any clan matches
Im liking the look of aquiss gonna ring them up tomorrow to see if they dont block ports or have no dreaded p2p gaming disease
These and fast.co.uk are the top two on my wishlist.
Looked at plus.net they prioritise gaming but their packages dont appeal to me

So, can we have an update on this please? Which are the best ADSL ISPs for gaming? I'm with Fast4 at the moment but considering leaving...

There was a news report on Aquiss if you search the news might find the others that have started gaming packages.

All ISPS that were under the Pipex banner are soon to be Tiscali friends I have on nildram are in the process of moving over to Be since their pings in the evening have been going higher.

i can get on peak times with tiscali now with cod4 and no lag but still gonna leave them when contract is over.Im going to go with either titanadsl or aquiss depending who have the right packages at the time:)

Still trying to decide myself, although with a flat move coming up I might as well stick with Nilly and save having to move three times in the same year :) . Aquiss, IDNet, Zen, Be and Sky are top of my choices list though. Shame none of the top small providers do line-rental bundles, except Vispa of course, I'll consider them too.

I'm getting a bit narked with Be, so I've started having a look at some options.

Sky would be OK if you didn't have to take TV as well. Zen are too expensive for me, though undoubtedly quality. If I decide to move, I'll look at Entanet, basically.

id highly recommend Be* as i havent had a single problem with them since joining. And compared to VM they are very big improvment.

My ping on BF2 is between 15-18 and on cod4 its between 30-50. v:drool:

during my 3 month hell with VM i couldnt even play online games BF2 ping was from 70-500.

I looked at the Aquiss site, and while it's package looks good, that however doesn't include line rental making it all in all far too expensive for me. However, I'm with Talk Talk for my phone which is my line rental as well, so I suppose it might work out about the same...

It is a case of getting what you pay for sir. Talk Talk are well known for their atrocious performance and customer service. Take a look at their forum here!

@daveyB - I know exactly what you mean with VM. I'm with them at home.

I'm gonna be moving into my new house for university in august. Just wondering if anyone knows how good Sky is for gaming. We want good tv in our house as well as a good internet connection. The whole Sky package would be pretty ideal.

Sky use to have a few problems with gaming but I believe they ironed a lot of those out a few months back. However, I would probably avoid the 'free' broadband option as you're less likely to be given the desired stability of service on that package and it only offers a 2GB usage allowance. Go for the MID or MAX option.
