giffgaff customers need to have 4G VoLTE calling and WiFi calling on their network

giffgaff, giffgaff, giffgaff is all I hear but why the hell are you still with them if their signal is crap in your area? You've been with giffgaff for 8 years now, try another network!
They've said they want to move to Smarty but they want to see what happens first between Three and Vodafone before committing but Smarty isn't the only operator out there.

I know what they said... What does one expect to gain by waiting for a possible merger? You could be waiting weeks, months or years! SMARTY's signal isn't going to double over night and neither is Vodafone's. I doubt he even knows how good or bad a signal they provide in their area tbh. I mean come on, he is walking around with 1 bar of signal, no VoLTE and no WiFi calling! Probably got crap data speeds and no 5G too!?!

If and when they do get it, assuming O2 don't close them, the commercial offering will not be the same. Why, because an MNO only use their siblings to target certain user types.

If O2 gave them all the bells and whistles (system and network change) expect EE type speed bands.

I know, Gigg Gaff does have 5G though as I've used it before.

Depending on if O2 uses all the spectrum that is has which is how I think that EE is able to offer quite fast 4G speeds.

But there's more chance of pigs flying or Boris Johnson running for Labour than that happening.

giffgaff needs to be doing more for people without coverage because if all the other networks like EE 3 and smarty do 4G VoLTE calling and WiFi calling why should people be forced to leave just to get these features when you just could get it on networks like giffgaff

I'm sorry but Giff Gaff saying the work is "pretty extensive" and "has many moving parts" is a joke, They as in O2 already offer it to their Pay Monthly users and sites such as esim allow you to buy a O2 esim which also offers the above so I fail to see why Giff Gaff are coming up with such a feeble excuse.

If O2 didn't offer it to any of their users and it was a brand new system that I might have some sympathy but as it is, I don't as all they need to do is migrate everyone using O2 including the PAYG users on O2, Tesco Mobile, Giff Gaff and Lycra onto the same system that the O2 Pay Monthly users are on which can't be that difficult to do.

As to saying they're doing the best to make it a reality well I believe it when I see it, I don't have that much faith in them as they've been saying for ages now that they are bringing what is a essential service to all and nothing has happened.

Saying that, I would have said there was no chance of seeing Luton Town FC in the 2023/2024 Premier League but that has happened so maybe Giff Gaff might surprise us all....

Just join smarty now.... If you don't like it after the vodafone merger just leave, it's not like you're in a contract. it's not terribly difficult for someone who knows about VoLTE to switch to a different Network. just do it and stop moaning.

surely if these features of your calling plan were missing wouldnt you just switch networks? waiting to see what happens with three and vodafone means you'd be waiting years and.

Giffgaff dont 'need' to do anything. If there are holes in your coverage where it matters to you most, you'd grab a payg sim an at the most basic level, you'd see how many bars were on your screen.

Giffgaff isn't even value for money anymore which sees a lot of people leaving regardless. It seems, at least via the advertising, that they don't even care. 'free to go free to stay' so they don't even mind if they loose customers.... Interesting marketing technique.
I left giffgaff for smarty before I even joined this forum, went to three thereafter as I wanted VoLTE and then came back to smarty once they'd added it. the price of giffgaff is what made me leave, alongside the fact that my data didn't work when i was on a phone call since O2 3G is no use nor ornament.

I have an unlocked Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 5G on also looking for a network that can provide me with 4G VoLTE calling and WiFi calling even though my phone's unlocked to any network and I'm also looking for an network NVNO and voicemail included in my Plan most importantly I want to cancel at any time and even though my Samsung s22 ultra is unlocked I really wanna find the network with the best customer service even though even though I don't like voxi and SMARTY and leabara that's the networks I have ruled out and will not be looking at

Voxi is owned and run by Vodafone, Smarty is owned and run by Three, so you probably want to rule them out too.

Giffgaff is tinpot. If it was tinpot but much cheaper than its competitors, it'd be an option for some people who are on a tight budget and don't place huge importance on network quality. But in the current market, it's tinpot and there are competitors with better packages and better network features, like Smarty and Voxi. I'm with the latter and happy, with zero intention of switching unless something significantly better comes along.

As for the OP, he clearly has no plans to switch away from Giffgaff, but likes to complain and post. If he was actually being affected by these network shortcomings in some way that was impacting his phone use, then he would have used a tiny fraction of the time he spends making long, rambling YouTube videos to research and switch to an alternative network. The posts aren't worth engaging with.

Agreeance.

If anything I don't even know that I go very long on videos and for most people I do most of my research ready to do very videos when I have spare time I tend to plan for my next video I'm doing research as well

But don't complain at anything you can change for yourself

It mustn't bother you that much or you'd move... The Threedafone merger has no bearing on anything
