GL.iNet GL-X3000 Spitz AX Discussion

Hi All,

I haven't seen any discussion on this router, I recently picked it up from amazon on a whim as its pretty new and uses the x65 5G modem to see if i could get more stable and better speeds than my huwaei CPE pro 2 in the UK on Vodafone, in Central London.

Well I wasn't disappointed. I have gone from 300 mbps to 500-650mbs, and have been stable for a week now and counting. It's a really slick modem / router and I'm wondering why it's not discussed here?

If you're like me and was stuck with strange stability issues / capped around 300 mbps when you think you should get more from 5G, I can't recommend this machine enough. Does anyone else use this or know about the company?

I bought one about a month ago to replace a Huawei 5G CPE also on Vodafone, but also got a EE SIM to put in the second slot. Vodafone download speeds didn't improve for me, around 80-100Mb, but upload speeds increased from 5-10mb to 20-25mb. EE SIM is even faster, had my fastest speed test today at 270mb download. Currently testing with a Smarty SIM which is giving around 100-150mb downloads.
Everything else with it I've been happy with, recently set up NordVPN with a few clicks. One of the things I wish it had was data usage stats per SIM, seems to merge everything into one. The device does run quite hot, the fan kicked in during the hot weekend.

There's also another thread discussing the PuliAX which is same as this but with a battery pack: https://www.ispreview.co.uk/talk/threads/puliax-wifi6-5g-router.40218/

Thinking of ordering one from amazon just to compare and test. Probably cant justify keeping it but the curiosity is there.

I may live to regret it ... but hey, I'll just add it to the list of things I regret, lol

Ordered direct from gl-inet.com and if I've done my sums correctly, it was the cheapest way.

Didn't get the self contained battery version as it will be mainly used in the happy caravaning tinbox on wheels that has a 12v battery built in
