Grandstream HT801 help please NOT QUITE SOLVED yet

No you won't need to play with any of that- that's port forwarding which wouldn't apply to an outbound (stun) connection.

I've tried looking for a config PDF for your model ATA but am struggling, if I could see the advanced page and take a look at a packet capture (.cap file) when the phone has stopped working it would help

There should be a NAT keepalive somewhere in the interface - I think the issue is that the CGNAT gateways within the mobile network are quite aggressive at terminating sessions.

There is a Keep Alive for the Fanvil.

I have changed it from UDP to SIP. It is 15 seconds.

I have removed the STUN entries that created those FALSE entries in the above post.

I have changed my Huawei Router to SIP ALG on as when it is off I cannot be heard by the incoming caller.

Now to wait and see what happens.

If that's the case then sip alg will be correcting the sip headers that contain a private ip- this is usually what stun on the client device will fix. If/when your connection drops again try and get a packet capture (.cap file) at the time as it'll be easy to diagnose the fault then.

OK bon.

I will start creating that cap file when I go to bed and close it when I get up. It seems that the link dies overnight. I must test it twenty times a day and it's always there.

EDIT. In fact I have started the log now....

Interesting that A&A recommend turning off SIP ALG (!)

If you use STUN then the SIP packets will have the correct external IP in, so you don't need the SIP ALG - on a mobile network when you have additional NAT in the network then the SIP ALG can't work anyway since it's just going to rewrite your internal LAN IP in the SIP packet with a CGNAT or 10.x.x.x IP that the mobile router has been assigned to the WAN IP.

I tested with an incoming call this morning and it connected. The link has stayed alive overnight. This is my Keep Alive setting.

Do I need to tick that Keep Authentication box - or indeed any of the others.

With regard to the log there were a couple of pages referring to the 'phone book' but I assume these are meaningless. The last few entries show my incoming call which connected.

If anyone has something I should try I'll do it. Otherwise just keep my fingers crossed that I now have a stable connection.

Interesting that A&A recommend turning off SIP ALG (!)

We always recommend disabling it as there's no standardisation with SIP ALG's so they're not a predictable/reliable thing. Most clients have their own SIP helper anyway (STUN/Manual NAT setting).

Again I guess it depends on the manufacturers implementation of their ALG- you would assume a mobile router's ALG would take in to consideration the possibility of a CGNAT WAN and discover the actual WAN IP by other means but then they're rarely clear about how their ALG works so it's a guessing game for the most part. As you say STUN is the better method to use when available.

Since the above post I have been in touch with Fanvil and they get a TRUE with my settings.

I am not expecting any more help from their end as it seems pretty clear that my problem is due to something on my Huawei 5g LTE Pro 2 router.

The router has a SIP ALG option. I have mine set to on.

Turning it off still does not let the Fanvil STUN turn from FALSE to TRUE.

The good news is that with Keep Alive on the SIP option and 15 seconds seems to keep the connection working. I have tested it for the last four mornings and it 'worked'.

Maybe the Huawei SIP ALG is all I need?

Problem 'solved' ??
