My PC has no hard drive access security. Switch it on and everything is there for anyone to see. Can anyone recommend any free software download that allows creation of password protection for the hard drive on W98? Thanks, Carstairs
Im guessing you're not worried about the performance hit of encrypting your whole hard drive then? Is encrypting just your documents or creating a seperate encrypted virtual disc where you can store all sensitive docs etc not an option?
All my previous machines have had the facility you describe but having contacted the manufacture (HP) by email they confirm my budget machine has no BIOS/harddrive lock and recommend obtaining 3rd party software.
Thanks phill for your comment. I am not too concerned about a slight reduction in performance and creating a secure virtual disk sounds interesting. How would one go about that with windows 98?
