Has this ISP died?

http://www.whois.net/whois_new.cgi?d=surfmad&tld=com

They've let their domain name die. NSDesigns, named on that Whois record, say they sold Surfmad a couple of years ago - I believe it's now owned by Bloomley UK, who I cannot get hold of.

Since the 8th of November we've been able to connect with no problems, but can't get e-mails. I'm assuming this lapse in the domain name means that any e-mails sent after the 8th will have been bounced back to the sender.

It also means their website has disappeared and e-mails to support@surfmad.com don't get through. I refuse to phone a premium rate number (the only technical support number they give) when they've created the problem.

Anyone know anything?

Website appears to show up now, looks like an admin error, which wouldn't be surprising since they're just another one of those random dine and dozen resellers.

Thanks, it does seem fine now and all e-mails came through, none were lost.

I completely fail to see how an ISP can manage to let their domain name lapse. It's given the push to go for broadband access though, so for us at least, something good came out of it ;)

Having just found this thread, I'd like to clarify that NSDesign Ltd are no longer connected in any way to the SurfMad.com ISP. We sold the operation nearly 2 years ago to a 3rd party.

Please note that the domain itself surfmad.com is still "managed" by NSDesign Ltd (while owned by the new owner), and upon recently being advised by a surfmad user that the domain was down (the current owner having NOT renewed it) we pro-actively took steps to renew it ourselves, in order to aid, and bring back online the many users who were offline as a result.

We are currently trying to make contact with the owner to confirm the domain renewal with them, and to ensure that the surfmad service remains operational for the many users. However, as we no longer have any legal entitlement to the surfmad operation, I cannot say what the outcomes will be.

I hope this helps

Regards
Gary
