Has Vodafone UK Scrapped its Fixed Line Broadband Service?

We could do with some help on this since Vodafone aren't keen to respond and as a result we've hit a bit of a dead-end.

Essentially we've noticed that the fixed line broadband and phone 'Vodafone At Home' service/package (based on a BT Managed Platform), which hadn't really changed since it was launched a few years ago, appears to have vanished from the operators website.

It could merely be that their revamped website is just incredibly tedious to find anything on (seems you have to go through several pages of promotional drivel just to find any constructive details), although so far we've only been able to locate an FAQ discussing the package and no further details.

So if anybody knows what has happened to 'Vodafone At Home' or can find it on their new site then do let us know :) . From our perspective they appear to have quietly phased it out, although existing customers are still continuing to use the service and haven't been informed of any change. Customers deserve to know if Vodafone are going to give their service the boot.

Last we heard Vodafone were using http://www.viatel.com as there wholesale provider according to one of their reps might be worth having a chat with them!

Warning. This answer is about as much use as one that you'd get from a mobile phone operator's £100 a second help line.
:p

By using "I am a dummy who does not understand the word "mobile" so clicked the irrelevant looking bit" logic, I find that it might still exist, if someone hasn't just forgotten to delete a few pages and has fouled up a link, but, there again, it might not.

On the main page, in the big red navigation bar, as I'm pretending to be interested in a fixed line service, naturally enough, I hovered over "Mobile Internet".
A box popped up, the right-hand column being headed "Support", and including a link to "Home broadband".
Clicking that took me to a "How can we help?" page (persuading your site designer to commit suicide would be a good start) with a "Fixed Line Broadband at Home" heading (Hell, that's no good, I wanted fixed line broadband in the car, these people are useless) including such things as a "What is Vodafone at Home?" section (Probable answer - an expensive way of obtaining a pile of excrement, a couple of dodgy Chicken Vindaloos would be cheaper), and...

How do I get Vodafone at Home?
:)

As one who regards all mobile phone operators as untrustworthy vermin who should be shot on sight, I have never previously looked at their site, so I don't know if it's always been like this or if it's a new restriction, but it appears that you have to be a Vodafone mobile customer to get it, and you must have a "personal (not Business) pay-monthly" account, it's not something for any Tom, Dick or Harry, but it appears to exist, right?

However...
If I pretend that I am an interested pay monthly customer, and click the "Order Vodafone at Home" link, it takes me to a page that seems to be all about Mobile broadband and, under a picture of a couple of unlikely looking oiks who seem to have stepped straight out of a 1960s "B" movie, tells me about using something called a "dongle" to connect my PC.
I am not entirely sure what a "dongle" is, but I've heard my sister mention the thing. She lives on a narrowboat, one that genuinely trundles around terrorising the waterways of Britain, not one that's on a permanent mooring with all mod cons attached, so is dependent on a mobile connection, and after analyzing her various comments and deleting a shedload of expletives related to the deficiencies thereof, I still can't see anything in her messages that suggests that a "dongle" may be even vaguely related to "Fixed Line Broadband at Home".

Viatel is kind of split right now and might be used for their business service, although they don't generally sell consumer fixed line broadband products.

As you've probably noticed, they do still have a form to register your interest in vodafone at home, although you can't enter a date after dec 2010, maybe you should fill it in and see if they bother to reply

Please register your interest in Vodafone At Home by filling out the form below.

Good plan Mel, I'll give that a try.

I'll also continue to hassle their PR department until they can offer some kind of statement to clarify the situation.

I had a reply to one of my original emails to their basic customer support forms, which essentially said that their was a link to it on their website in the mobile internet section (even though nobody could find it) but then didn't bother to include the link and instead told me to phone them. I got tired of waiting for an operator after 15 mins and gave up.

Vodafone were quite cagey in their reply, you couldn't really read anything into their wording.

Still awaiting a reply to my email response.

Sorry this is so long after the original thread postings.....

I am a Vodafone at Home customer and am also baffled at the current status of the service.

I'm in a semi rural area where BT speeds are normally between 2mbs to 4 mbs. I have been getting speeds of up to 5mbs since I signed with Vodafone but have been getting problems with disconnections (DNS errors) at peak times recently.

I agree that it's a nightmare trying to get info on the Vodafone website which takes you round in circles and only wants to give information about mobile broadband anyway.

My vodafone mobile signal is poor inside my house, so using the free number to contact Customer Support (in S. Ireland) is difficult unless I use my landline. Even when you contact them they do assume that enquiries about broadband relate to the mobile version and not ADSL, so calls can be a bit frustrating at times.

I phoned them the other day and was given 01954 214903 as the direct dial number to use for enquiries about Vodafone at Home, so if anyone is still interested in contacting them that might be the best bet.

I have also logged a ticket with Customer Support asking why the service has been airbrushed off their website and also asking if the service is for the chop anyway!!

Perhaps I might get an answer eventually.
