HD+ Calling on Three?

Yeah I saw that site too thanks Lucian, just always very wary about these 'non standard' UK sites, as you say customs charges perhaps as well.
Alza seems legit, domain registered 10 years ago and quicly checked archive.org, they seem to be doing the same business as quite a few years ago. For peace of mind better use a credit card or paypal.

Cheers Lucian not as good on price though, with me being a cheapskate. 😊

Hi everyone, I've only just noticed that whenever I make a call to someone else who is also on 3 or an MVNO of 3 (SMARTY, iD, Superdrug etc) I get HD+ on my status bar instead of normal HD calling. The call quality of these HD+ Calls is incredible. It only seems to be for higher end phones tho (The galaxy S, note and fold/flip lines, any iPhone above the 11 (including SE2 and SE3). It also seems to work with oneplus devices, but I'm not sure which specified ones. Lower end devices don't seem to work with this HD+ feature, such as the galaxy A line or Xiaomi devices.

This isn't really a question, just a quick little neat feature I noticed. Enjoy your day :)
Is HD+ Just Vo4G?

I have the Huawie Mate 20 Pro and get HD calling when calling other Three mobiles, I thought HD was 3G calling Three to Three as don't have 2G, and if you call non Three it still goes over 3G but then onto the other network.

Nah, HD appears for VoLTE calls to other networks + phones that I mentioned didn't get HD+ before. If I call over 3G, HD/HD+ doesn't appear at all. I was reading about EVS and it's some special codec that gives really high call quality.

If it's EE to EE then oh no! But otherwise it might be something on the other providers end making it seem like an EE call quality issue
It’s both... I’ve tried S20+ to iPhone 13, S20+ to 1+ 8 and S20+ to iPhone 12... All on EE - must note however HD+ never appeared. Still; call quality on EE is utter crap whatever the weather

All using VoLTE/VoWifi, and not dropping to 2/3G on either end? When I used to be with EE (3yrs ago?) call quality seemed good between whatever Pixel I had at the time and an iPhone (XS?), and also iPhone to iPhone. Not that that is of any consolation for your current experience!

They all remained connected to VoLTE for the duration of the call... all still very sh!t quality and not a shade on the clarity of the Three EVS

Nifty bit of tech that. Now for Vodafone to put it in on their end. Out of all the carriers Vodafone is the worst by an absolute mile - almost completely impossible to understand what the person on the other end of the line is saying regardless of the phone being used.

Been with Vodafone for just under a year and never had an issue with call quality

Vodafone is probably the one I get the least issues with when calling to another network... It's EE, giffgaff and Tesco that have the absolute worst call quality; giffgaff and Tesco because they still use CSFB and I've no idea why EEs call quality is so bad.

EE use to be okay for me. Not sure if it's down to the equipment swap?

It sort of all started around the same time

Not sure, but it's crap now, that's all I know. I moved all my family away from EE 2 years ago now mainly due to them either being a) ripped off or b) Three being the better network in their area

Yep. I'll probably stay with Vodafone when it comes to deciding at the middle of next month.

Three have loads of new masts up here but none of them are up and running yet.
