HELP- Advice on flat screen monitor

I regret to report that, after 9 years of excellent service, my beloved AXION 15" monitor, the last remaining part of my original PC, has developed a fault in that on the left hand side is yellow gradient colur fading to middle, with yellow streaks from any non-white parts of the picture.:(

So looks like I'm in the market for a reasobably priced, reliable flat screen monitor that, and this is important, has a fast enough refresh rate to cope with games.

Any suggestions will be welcome...

Thanks

Have a look at the super specials on www.aria.co.uk

I got a 19" tft for about £150 odd (or less) with an 8 ms reponse time.

For gaming, it has to be 8ms or less, or your going to notice it.

theres a nice 19" one with DVI out for £117.44 inc VAT. Which is lovely!

Thanks guys and gals. I'm still agonosing over the decision (no I'm not still using the faulty monitor but a spare one of the same make but inferior quality) but I will let you know what I buy. You have given me plenty of food for thought.

I have a Dell 19", it can be raised, tilted and turned, never any probs in 18 months...oh and it has 2 USB ports built in.

Standard blue port or DVI.

why not another CRT? I bought a used Iiyama Vision Master 19" from a computer firm off ebay for £30. bloody bargain!! it's got a mark on the screen, but I use it on a 2nd PC, but only really notice it on white backgrounds.

going back to TFT's, I have a 17" Iiyama ProLite which I use on my main comp, it's fookin marvelous. and who the hell says you need 8ms for gaming! mine is 16ms, and it's great with any game I throw at it. maybe the 16ms TFT's you've been comparing with were **** :p

you can buy some very good 17" TFT's for around £120-£130 now.

Hi All,

As promised, I'll tell you what I eventually went for, for better or for worse.

http://www.dabs.com/ProductView.asp...dId=11109&NavigationKey=11109,50020&InMerch=1

The AG Neovo F417 17" with 4ms response time. Arrived in good time (actually delivery man woke me at 7am to deliver, I ordered like 10pm Tuesday and 0700 Thursday not bad. He had a good laugh at a confused and zombified Froggy just out of bed :o

Screen nice and bright, no deceased pixels (hurrah) and works very well for games. Looks lovely in native resolution 1280x1024, but DOD only does 12fps at that resolution. In 1024x768 looks less crisp but still looks great with no ghosting or blurring and I get 40fps, which helps me get fragged fewer times.

Total cost was £120 inc p&p as I had a £10 off voucher from dabs. I'm really happy with it. Ok, no DVI input, but it still looks and works lovely. I'm happy.

I bought a BenQ FP71G+ Monitor earlier this year and it developed a fault.
I called up BenQ support and they replaced it with another brand new monitor by Courier.

To my surprise, it was a FP71GX. They had sent me the wrong model. But I wasn't complaining. Why?

This model has the same screen size as the previous faulty monitor, however has DVI connectivity and 4ms response time as opposed to 8.

Games run exceptionally well, and movies have no hint of blurring.
