Help please?

I'm on dial-up Tesco Anytime a/c atm.
But I'd like to get Broadband as soon as I can, mainly for speed and to free up the telephone line.

Does anyone know how I can check out what sort of allowance I'm using presently?
or,
if I went for a package offering 5G downloads, would that be sufficient for most needs?
ie: forums, surfing sometimes, e-mail, online gaming every so often (Joint Ops. that I can't play online yet) that my brother would like me to join in on, and also the odd downloads of programs and maybe music tracks.

I can't pay any more than £20 a month either, I'm on a pension and I have 2 sick cats (and a ;) vet to support!). LoL
Not to mention the fact that my husband wouldn't allow it.

So far I have seen a few that look quite good, going by reviews, but there are still a couple to check out.

So, has anyone anything more to say about those I show below, or can suggest their preference for an ISP that I should check out next please?

Surfanytime
The phone Co-op

Thank you for any advice you are able to give me, I do not understand anything about the subject and it's all rather a steep learning curve for me.
Reading some posts makes me think it's all written in double dutch, there is such a lot of jargon.
I have so far however, just about cottoned on to what ADSL means!

Just make sure you don't sign up with an Isp that requires a one year contract.

The reason being if they are no good, which you will not find out until you join them, you can't leave without paying the balance.

You should be able to find their terms and conditions easily on their website, unless they have a reason to hide them..

Thank you both for your advice, I have taken notice of it and I have found a monthly one that looks good.

If your on dial up right now, I would guess that 3-5gb would do you just fine, as long as once you get broadband, you don't go mad and start downloading everything you find (it does happen when dial up customers get BB for the first time and notice all that speed!)
And you should have no problem finding what you are looking for under budget.
