Hissing noise on the line

Hello long time problem and no one seems to be able to sort it:

Problem:
When using my DECt telephone I can hear the router hissing away on the telephone line - sounds like a fax. At times it can drown out the other person that I am calling but they cannot hear it. When the router syncs with the exchange I can hear this too. I do not always hear it and at times the line can seem clear. How do I know it is the router? Becasue when I turn ot off the line is crystal clear.

Solutions (Or NO solutions) that have been given to me that didn't work:

1) Change filters - filters changed 5 times without success
2) Put a fixed filte rin as an extension and use CAT 5 wire with the bell wire disconnected on the extension
3) Change phone (done twice)
4) Call BT and have line tested for voice fault... done 3 times. Teice underground fault but still no change... Bt now say no fault on their computer so there can't be a problem with them
5) Are you ready for this one - BT told me to ......Disconnect the router that will solve it ..
6) Call ISP... this has been an open fault since May.. It happened on my standard adsl line and on my MAX. Standard just reconnected at same spped(could take up to 5 minutes to resync), Max can take a day or more to connect and at times can sync at 28Kbps, Apparently BT are amending my RAS but I don't think that will make a difference.
7) Change router - done twice. router is a Belkin

Sorry aboutr the long rant but any other ideas?

Couldit be tha tthe Belkin F57632uk4a routers are too sensitive and spill over on to the voice side? I don't want to spend a small fortune on a new router to find the same problem.

Any one else experiencing this?

thanks once agai n.

1. Does the problem occur when you plug in a normal analogue telephone handset without DECT?

2. Do you have filters on ALL the related outputs for that specific phone line?

3. Have you tried plugging the micro filter directly into the BT master socket (usually involves taking out the two screws on the BT box face plate)?

1) It is still there on a corded phone but not as amplified
2) Yes, infact there is only one extension, the one mentioned above and that has the fixed filter on it.
3) Yes and this makes absolutely no difference.

thank you for the reply, any further suggestions or ways to get this sorted?

We have had a few customers over the years with the same problem, we used to have a fax machine in the office, which done the same, a hissing noise down the line.

After reporting this to BT, they send an engineer out and couldn't find a fault as it would only do the hissing noise on this fax machine. After 7 engineer visits they finally started to charge us a call-out fee as they couldn't find any fault on the line itself, they blaimed the fax machine every time. This is where it now gets interesting.

After over £200 of call-out fees, we had just had enougth, we then had the area manager come out and he worked on the line for over 2 hours and once again couldn't find any fault. The engineer phoned the R&D department at BT and they said this was a "characteristic of ADSL technology".

The solution to the problem was very simple. The engineer placed a single socket filter onto the end of the adsl filter, just like a doubler and that filtered the noise from the line. Dont ask me why knowone in BT know the real story over this. Oh and these filters are not available to buy, the engineer has to supply them, so call faults on 151, explain that you need an engineer to come out with a noise filter to place on the line due to the "characteristic of ADSL technology". :(

Hope this helps.

So basically you had your master socket --> adsl splitter/ filter and then another filter in the telecphone socket hole of the adsl splitter/filter? Is that right?

Did this filter affect the ADSL line speed etc?

Did it make the ADSL connection faster?

Put a filter into the socket one side the router/modem goes other side a phone and you need a filter on every socket thats being used even if it is just for a phone or sky etc.

If you then still have noise on the line see if you get it with just a phone connected to the master socket if you dont try the router into the same filter if you do that with all the filters and any giving noise while others dont replace the ones that do if it gives noise with all of them while the router is plugged in but not when its just a phone it is a ADSL line fault as some of the copper connectors/cables have become tarnished and need cleaning/replacing on the line.

I have no other extensions being used, and I have a fixed filter extension on the line.

THE NOISE ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE ROUTER IS CONNECTED TO THE LINE!

5 filters have been used and it can still be heard.

I phoned 151 and was told as it was an ADSL line fault causing it I would need to go through my ISP and get BTWholesale out. If 151 sent an engineer out it would be a telephone engineer.

I give up.

Report it to your isp telling them it is the overhead access elements that is causing it and that it is quite a well know problem by BT wholesale
