Home Hub - Cannot make wireless connection

Overnight my BT Home Hub has changed from firmware level 6.2.2.6 to 6.2.6.B. This morning I cannot make a wireless connection. Connects OK via ethernet.

I tried turning off firewalls. No joy.
I changed security to unencrypted. No joy.
I scratched my head.

Everything was fine yesterday. Anyone else having trouble?

Problem solved :D

I changed the Home Hub encryption settings back to WPA-PSK and then changed the PC settings to use WPA-PSK. Lo and behold the wireless connection worked. I cannot understand why but it seemed to do the trick. :smilet:

this is because the home-hub when it updates it wipes your wireless settings

so if got multiple wireless devices it's not the best hub to have

both my hubs are in their boxes because of this and now use a more reliable router setup

Keep an eye out for malicious activity; have you read the news about the homehub router on "The Register" ???

Walkerx, After the update my wireless security settings were the same as before. I disabled encryption and altered my pc settings to the same. I still couldn't connect. It was only after resetting to WPA on the hub and PC that I could connect. I still don't understand but hopefully my experience will save other users time and frustration.

Captain, I have read "the register". No it wasn't caused by malicious activity. Good thought though.

That's the version with the BT FON software included(you opted in I believe?)

As already mentioned..a HH software upgrade wipes out the settings for wireless connectivity and you have in essence to completely reset them.
As you have found... Resetting the HH config alone won't allow the computers to 'see' the new network...resetting the HH AND all the computers connecting wirelessly will.
