Home Telephone Providers

I work with a multi-service provider offering calls at wholesale cost.

No need to change your number. No minimum contract. Billing per second.

Pay basic BT line rental and save between 35% and 85% on ALL your calls at all times.

As a telephony customer you can also enjoy the cheapest gas & electricity in the UK plus competitive dial-up or broadband internet access, and some excellent mobile phone tariffs too.

One monthly bill for all your services.

Only condition is payment by direct debit. (Monthly service charge of £1.76 applies to fixed line service).

A simple box that plugs into your phone socket and routes your calls down the cheapest available lines can save you money - typically around 35% on call charges but up to 85% for some calls.

(This is not an autodialler or one of the boxes that simply routes all your calls to a single provider and only gives you cheaper calls at particular times or to particular destinations).

The box is available free subject to a £10.00 payment for calls in advance and a monthly service charge of £1.76 including VAT.

Yes you remain a BT customer and pay line rental to BT but you will save money on most calls (aside from some fixed rate numbers such as 0845 etc.) Billing is per second.

No minimum contract - try the service and if you don't like it all you have to do is return the box.

You can email me for more information if you would like to visit the website.

Their Talk Together packages, were the biggest step forward possible.</strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Beware the "free calls" advertising though which may not be the right deal for you.

The basic line rental for BT costs £9.99 + vat = £11.74 per month. On this package all evening and w/e local calls are charged at 0.9 pence per minute.

The BT Together package costs £14.99 + vat = £17.61 per month. On this package all evening and w/e local calls are supposedly free (Confusion marketing).

However to get the Free calls costs £17.61 - £11.74 = £5.88. This means that before the customer actually receives any free calls they have to make £5.88/0.9 pence = 653 mins (10.88 hrs) of calls in the month.

To make any less than 653 mins of calls in the month is costing them money with BT together, and remember they have to use 653 mins of calls every month before they are actually getting any free calls.

On top of this, if the customer was making quite a few calls over the 653 mins and actually benefiting from the package, who's to say that BT won't withdraw the service from that customer for excessive use of the service? (read the small print on their service contract - those with BTOW know what that can be like)

With regards to the message above telling us to go to `uktelecom` for a cheaper deal.
If you search hard enough on their home page you will come across the facts concerning the free box. Oh yes but it also mentions and additional charge "and a low monthly service charge of £1.76"
Another example of small print. Not so cheap after all ........

The call savings for most people will far outweigh the very low service charge. When you first take a Smartbox you are also required to pay a £10 "calls in advance charge" which is credited to your future bills.

There are no hidden costs and you are guaranteed to save money compared with BT or they promise to refund double the difference. This includes BT's discount schemes such as Friends & Family.

How can you justify the accusation of "hidden charges" when they are clearly outlined in the very first paragraph describing the service on the company's website? You will notice that there is no minimum contract term for customers either - on any of the company's services, including their mobile tariffs. You are free to return the box if you don't like it or are unhappy with the service. Very few people want to do this once they see the savings they are making but with the guarantees they offer allied to the fact that you are not tied to any contract means you have absolutely nothing to lose by trying a Smartbox. (You can even override it when you wish and use your existing provider).

Take another look at the rates and compare their minimum call charge against that of the competition and remember that they bill "per second" and not "per minute". It makes a lot of difference even on short calls.

You also fail to mention that Smartbox customers can also enjoy the cheapest gas and electricity rates in the UK today which, added to your phone bill savings, can add up to a substantial amount over the course of a year. There is a lot more to this company than cheaper calls on your landline.

I haven't looked back since I joined them and I am a picky customer :-)

I myself am with OneTel, and have saved ££'s of pounds in just a few months.

The trick is to control your calls, and not to make loads of unnecessary one's where you will pay lots in connection charges.

Also, their are lots of packages to choose from, and the 'Tell Your Friends' plan saves you alot if you can manage to get some of your mates to sign up as well.

I will be one of the few people actually moving from telewest to BT. I cant get cable modem even though I have Telewest cable TV and Telewest phone line.

It will be cheaper for me to have a BT standard phone line rental and have Sky TV with the family package.

Since ADSL is enabled then I will have a crack at getting ADSL too.

I can't wait for the Sky-All in One- TV/Phone/ADSL package (that is if ADSL ever gets to me).

Oh, and probably BT will launch their own product like that soon as well.. here's hoping since i'll never get cable.

BT specialize in "confusion marketing" and as long as you don't look too closely at Talk Together it might seem OK. BT rely on customer apathy and resistance to change. Just to illustrate think about the latest advertising campaign for free evening and weekend calls.

It is a myth which I'm sure a lot of people have bought in to.

It's simply the best deal available to me & nobody, apart from BT's slightly dearer option, can come close to matching it.

Avoid Telecom Plus like foot & mouth, they are completely unprincipled spammers.

Your best bet as far as I can tell for any provider is Telewest. Take their £25 package which gives you all Local/National calls all the time, combined with blueyonder broadband, which at the minute you get for only £12.50 an month for the first 3 months. What a deal!! :D

I have no problems with paying £19.50 per month for unlimited UK calls.

My girlfriend lives in Tyne & Wear, and without this package, we simply wouldn't be able to have a relationship.

I don't care how much this service is pulled down; I know I have made a saving by using the service.

That is not my intention at all. I am just suggesting that people should look very carefully at their call patterns before assuming that BT's "free" calls option is of benefit to them.

Using the figures you quote yourself, a customer pays an extra £5.00/£6.00 per month extra to get 'free' local calls at evenings and weekends. The point is that £5.00 would pay for over 9 hours worth of such calls during the month. Therefore the calls are not free until you have used that much call time.

If you regularly exceed those sort of hours (parents of teenagers probably do :-0) then it is worth looking at. I don't believe the company make this at all clear to people which is why I use the term "confusion advertising".

Hit a nerve I guess.
