Honest - SMART eSIM is here!

Sorry not too sure if there is a thread for this already but! I managed to get to the top of the queue and paid a whopping £5 for the new Honest SMART eSIM… with unlimited data for specific apps.

On boarding process was easy - you just have to log in with your email and buy the sim…

You then get an email with the QR code… and when you scan it, it pops up as a Telnyx and it give you an US number.

I haven’t tested the sim yet - but I’m just popping out on lunch so will report back.

I guess that means they’ve got through issuing them all to investors.

I think their plan is to add more apps on a monthly basis. Be interesting to see what they are as the product develops.

Just out on lunch - tried WhatsApp and it works brilliantly. Besides the fact it locked to 3 at the moment - it’s speedy enough for daily texting. They say that they don’t support voice calls on WhatsApp but when I tried them, they work, but nothing to write home about.

Does backup calling work through the smart SIM?
Not sure - would need to move the sim to my S23 to find out which I will probs do later on.

Must be - I referred 5 ‘defo real’ friends and got my email to down the app/eSIM like 10 mins later.

It’s good Google Maps and Uber are on there as if you were stuck abroad with no data, they be key apps.

I’m an investor and don’t have an invite yet 😂

Maybe I’m on their bad list as I accidentally leaked their roaming plans on here before they were ready to go public with it. 👀

I’m not paying £5 to be stuck on 3 with limited apps thigh, I only pay £6 to Three for AYCE data.

To answer your question… no it does not.
Honestly that should be the #1 thing these smart SIMs have

How hard is it to approve epdg.epc.mnc010.mcc234.pub.3gppnetwork.org/sos.epdg.epc.mnc010.mcc234.pub.3gppnetwork.org, epdg.epc.mnc015.mcc234.pub.3gppnetwork.org/sos.epdg.epc.mnc015.mcc234.pub.3gppnetwork.org etc

Depends on the agreement with the operator they’re using for the Smart SIM?

At a guess the ping will be high and speeds slower but not really a big problem as it’s supposed to be a backup. I wonder if there’s a data limit, so you get a warning if you use it too much?

is there anything in the T&Cs @Fil?

Considering they're working on continually adding apps, why can't they add an essential feature?

I sound like I'm really against Honest, honestly not! (intended ;) )

Their customer service is very good, the team are really friendly and actually get back to you when they say they will. They've worked hard to achieve their B Corp status without the backing on a big MNO.

This product is great for someone who doesn't have an array of SIM cards and needs essential apps here and elsewhere to be available in the event their primary SIM goes down.

They're a little expensive, hopefully as they grow they'll have more buying power be able to complete with some of the bigger MVNOs.

The eSim has a US number? Does it do outgoing or incoming calls?
Yeah I believe it's a US one... Outbound no, inbound I haven't tried.

Nothing that I can see! Sorry!

The thing is Floppy - if WhatsApp Calls aren't official supported then they won't wouldn't support Backup Calling...

Paid up for mine and it's not showing. Bummer.
Dear Honest... 😈

Is it £5 a month for this service? Looking on Telynx website they only support 3G & 4G on 3UK and no other networks.
I have a Telnyx account so I'm going to have a play with it (if it will let me). I did have a feeling that it will be only 4g...

Thanks @Bubblesthefish6 for actually reading the instructions...

If you change the IMSI Selection Menu to Sparkle... it changes the sim to I TIM and let's you connect to all networks... and let's you access whatever lol.
