How accurate is samknows and 21CN

My exchange is NEWYL (Wylam), not the largest but it's due to be upgraded 6 months before the exchange next to this one that is 2x larger.

SamKnows however don't really know:

BT have set a target date of Q4 2010 for the switch to 21CN for the Wylam exchange

Many exchanges get the ADSL2+ side of it before the voice side so will I get the ADSL towards the end of this year, will it be postponed to 2034 or will I get the voice on the Q4 2010 and the ADSL later?

Also, how accurate are those figures, they're from 2006 so I guess BT will change the dates, but by how much?

Thanks,

- Toon

I know ISP's have a updated list from BT but I'm off at the moment, give our sales or customer service as a potential customer wanting 21CN and I'm sure you will get the most recent data.

For ADSL2+ you really want to look for Wholesale Broadband Connect (WBC) support, which is a part of 21CN but does not always come on the same day as 21CN itself. However I do know that the database for this has some problems, largely due to issues with the information that BT itself supplies.

You could try asking an ISP or going direct to BT Openreach with your question because most checkers will not be able to reflect WBC itself until after 21CN is enabled. I'd say it's a good bet you'll get WBC in Q4 but don't bank all your money on it.

The exchange history section of SamKnows can be completely unreliable regarding 21CN exchange dates. SamKnows are actually going to hide the Exchange History data for every exchange to avoid confusion. The most accurate 21CN exchange information can be found here -

Doesn't tell me anything there? Just that I can get up to 2Mb broadband (currently getting 7Mb )

Contacted Zen awhile ago and they haven't got back to me. :(

Gives me my (_accurate_) 21CN switchover date (among the usual speed stuff), that's all I can report. I actually e-mailed BT to find out what was happening with my exchange. Their reply confirmed the BT Wholesale checker date. :hrmph:

Asks me to put in my phone number, I do.

Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial test on your line indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides a fixed line speed up to 2Mbps.

Our test also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL Max broadband line speed of 4.5Mbps.

The actual stable line speed supportable will be determined during the first 10 days of use. This speed may change over time, to ensure line stability is maintained.

If you decide to place an order, a further test will be performed to confirm if your line is suitable for the service you wish to purchase.

Thank you for your interest.

Please note that postcode and address check results are indicative only. Most accurate results can be obtained from a telephone number check.

Note: If you already have a Broadband service enabled on this line and you want to switch service providers, you will need to contact both your current provider and your new provider to get your service changed over new and existing service provider to have this service transferred.

That's all I get :(
