How can I tell if Virgin will be FTTP at a given address?

Having experienced numerous painful reliability and customer service problems with Virgin Media over the years (including recently), I normally advise customers to avoid them at all costs. However, the likely reduction in need to interact with them due to the nexfibre rollout, combined with the lack of FTTP options in some locations is making me reconsider them in some instances.

The question is, given the apparently deliberate lack of clarity in their sales process, how can I tell if they are currently offering FTTP at a given address?

I've found that @Msh's website BIDB should show that quite well (e.g. it shows I'm in a HFC area with no other fibre options but another location shows that it has VM FTTP and CityFibre plans for build there).

Assuming you're using their own checker if the results include Gig2 and you can't see any reference to phone packages then it's safe to say the address is in an XGS-PON area.

Thanks, I didn't know about that website. Very handy indeed!

Thanks also. Do they not offer phone connections where they have FTTP? A relative just got VM FTTP installed and their router has two TEL sockets

This is all subject to change but currently VM do not offer phone packages in XGS-PON areas (despite the HUB5X having two phone sockets).

If you want to see what XGS-PON results look like on the VM checker insert TF118FG into the postcode and pick a random address.

I still question why they didn't go with an ONT especially with their new wholesale plans
