how do I cancel

Any tips. No response to e-mails, phone takes forever to answer - well I give up after 10-15mins. I was on lineone surftime package so cancelled the surftime with BT but can't get hold of Tiscali. Anyone found an exit!

If you've read the other posts and the Tiscali forums on http://www.tiscali.co.uk/forums/ (support), you'll know it's almost impossible to cancel with Tiscali in the normal way. I would suggest writing to them at:
Tiscali UK Ltd,
Tiscali Customer Service,
PO Box 264
Hull
HU2 8YB
Important: Send it recorded delivery.
Make it absolutely plain that you want to close your account from a date, (check T's & C's for required notice), and that any direct debit/credit card authorisation is withdrawn.
At the same time, write to your bank or credit card company and instruct them not to accept any further debits from Tiscali after that date, telling them that you have cancelled any direct debit/credit card authorisation with Tiscali.
Keep copies of all correspondence.
At best they are in a complete mess, at worst there is something rather iffy going on - whatever you do - don't trust them!! Don't do anything over the phone - they won't act on it.

I called up their billing department, and actually swore on the phone. Told the girl at the other end to cancel my account or i would personally visit their offices with some bricks and beefy friends. They cancelled the account 24 hours later.

Still haven't taken any money off me yet though.

I seem to recall someone else with this problem who got rid of Tiscali by downgrading to the Pay As You Go service and then simply not ever using it. I think you can upgrade / downgrade via the Tiscali website.

You just need to bloody give them a kick up the arse and they'll soon move. I feel i've finally got rid of them since they took payment (and it was the correct amount mind you) last week for what i owed them. Great!

Exactly the same scenario with me Northtim. I was with Lineone and before Tiscali took 'em over I was quite happy with their service. Since Tiscali took over however the customer service has been non existant and consequently I am wanting to terminate my subscription. I am a bit daunted by all this news about billing rip offs though, if they try it on me I may have to jon the brick throwing brigade (when's the next mission lads?).

I know this is not the page to start asking for recomendations on alternative ISP's, but what do you guys recomend?. I'm currently considering V21 & Quik.

When I last posted, I had just gone from off-peak to PAYG. All was well until a bill showed up (or at least an e-mail as all bills are online) that said ".....blah, sorry for inconvenience, the amount owing for your off-peak access package will be taken.....". What! The swines had put me back on to OffPeak from PAYG, not told me about it and let me continue dialling up on the 0845 number for god knows how long! Attempts to convert back to PAYG (and hence get a different ISP) have been fruitless 'cos the Big T has been "reconfiguring" it's website on the upgrade/downgrade site. In fact as an old screaming net member I couldn't downgrade at all, even to the disbelief of Big T's customer services (yes, they did actually answer my e-mails, even if their replys weren't very helpful!). We shall see if my prayers are answered in Feb when it's all supposed to be working again. All I need is for it to let me go PAYG for a short time - long enough to get onto a good ISP (does one exist?) and tell my friends of the change - and then I can dump T for good!

Cancelling Tiscrapi

I have a Scottish address and a hull address for aforementioned Sam Parrot. To date they have had 8 SPECIAL DELIVERY letters from me and ignored them all.I LOST my credit card so sent them a cheque 4 months ago it has never been cashed. I am now waiting to be taken to court its the only way I will be rid of them. Incidently when I wrote to cancel they still told me to cancel it on their Premium phone line

Cant i just cancel my credit card to tiscali and send them a letter like 'bobbybear' says?
~I am with them and have yet to experience trying to escape their rath which might be sooner rather than later after reading this thread (and others like it).
