If you're looking to protect cables as they go around a corner then maybe try a vertical elbow designed for air ducts - https://www.screwfix.com/p/manrose-rectangular-90-vertical-bend-white-100mm/18905Thank you guys, will look at these, @candlerb @XGS_Is_On do you use any control panel software? unifi? tp link?
my install is on the 28th, will share everything then 11 days :S its going to feel like forever,
Wonder if someone can recommend anything, I have a wall between where the cables are coming down from and into the understairs, there is space for the cables to go through quite easily, but I want to add a bit of protection of some sort, I thought of getting the black plastic tubular stuff?

but wondered if there wasn't anything that was a bit better.

from above you can kinda see I will bring all the ethernet cables down the otherside of the stairs ( easiest acces since the wall above it is not solid itse lath and plaster (fml right) so I have pulled down 2 cables already, one for the AP one for the gaming room/office which is closest really.
but the bit where it goes over the wall I want some sort of protection or something, like a corner bracket with holes in it like this that I can feed the cables in nicely with a nice radius bend on them

I would strongly recommend against both those options, as it is very hard to pull cables through a 90 degree bend, and fibre cables are likely to get damaged. If you're looking to protect cables as they go around a corner then maybe try a vertical elbow designed for air ducts - https://www.screwfix.com/p/manrose-rectangular-90-vertical-bend-white-100mm/18905
The other option is the trunking used in air conditioning which would let you put the fitting around the cables rather than having to feed the cables through - https://www.airconspares.com/aircon...ac-60mm-vertical-elbow-nc-60-plastic-trunking
I have a lot of 10mm plastic pipe around, the flexi stuff, been using it to stick the water pipes in the walls, could I use that? EEhernet cable does fit inside it, it'll only be for a small section, going to attempt it this way and mount them to the wall with some 10mm clips, I was looking at 8/10 pipe conduit clips, but they are all so expensive, it is a DIY home networking after allI would strongly recommend against both those options, as it is very hard to pull cables through a 90 degree bend, and fibre cables are likely to get damaged.
Flexible trunking as originally proposed will probably be OK, as long as it's not bent too tightly.
Real fibre trunking has a very gentle bend radius: compare water pipe on the left with fibre trunking on the right.

I understood the OP as wanting something to protect a brick edge, not anything to build a whole duct system out of.I would strongly recommend against both those options, as it is very hard to pull cables through a 90 degree bend, and fibre cables are likely to get damaged.

that fibre trunking, I can't find anywhere??
affraid not, on the 26th @ 8.51, I had a text to say they'd come between 8-1 on 28th, at 7 pm that night I get a call (from the offshore call centre, who have no idea what network I'm not on, nor that its a trial) stating outside works weren't complete, or something, at first they said they needed to connect me to the network, when I explained that it had already been done, brown box on the outside, they changed this to the "box on the street isn't complete" I stated it was, and that the AV Online engineer informed everything was good (I even looked at the tests etc from the machine they had -17.50 on the machine they had good? bad? good I hope lol). I stated everything was installed and the guy who even installed it tested every, on the day of installation (14/4) I had a text saying external works complete and ready for install, extremely annoying, waited 2 weeks to be told its not ready? I have nobody to contact, they have no clue about the trial, when I try to contact the ask trials email address they forward it on, but I hear nothing back, now next install is 17/5, If it doesn't happen before this I may just cancel, wasted a days holiday too which annoys me more. I really thought they would have a dedicated trial team of some sort (which ask trials confirmed, but no one got back to me) that deal with it all, rather than the offshore side of things taking over.did you get vm to install your fibre yet
strange. no one knows how this trial and why cant they just do the final part, bring the fibre into the home right? i would try to speak to someone at virgin or a manager idk. very odd that you got a message stating the external bit is done so wtf are they doingaffraid not, on the 26th @ 8.51, I had a text to say they'd come between 8-1 on 28th, at 7 pm that night I get a call (from the offshore call centre, who have no idea what network I'm not on, nor that its a trial) stating outside works weren't complete, or something, at first they said they needed to connect me to the network, when I explained that it had already been done, brown box on the outside, they changed this to the "box on the street isn't complete" I stated it was, and that the AV Online engineer informed everything. No idea what to do now, no one gets back to me or updates me, no clue, if the systems have been updated yet to state work, has been completed, so pretty much lost in the wind, nice start to a trial.

surely not more clear than that? >.< I have been with virgin in the past and for some reason, I expected this to go better.
to be honest, I could do the last bit myself, I've even run conduit and a pull string from just under the box, that can be pulled up into where I want it under the stairs, such little effort the guy needs to do, wouldn't be here that long at all.strange. no one knows how this trial and why cant they just do the final part, bring the fibre into the home right? i would try to speak to someone at virgin or a manager idk. very odd that you got a message stating the external bit is done so wtf are they doing![]()

so everything is installed you just need the fibre cable near your router right? maybe you can test it where the fibre cable is at, but the question would be if your fibre is active. not sure how vm works. on openreach when the fibre is connected to the ONT we waited for them to activate the ont. which you dont have so, worth a try i guess.View attachment 6211View attachment 6212
all the bends are not too harsh etc, easily pull a cable through it!
I've ordered a fibre tester to play around with it, but yeah I just need the hub and the fibre going from the external box to inside, would self-install if they gave me the option, would by my own fibre cable if they'd just send out a hub >.<so everything is installed you just need the fibre cable near your router right? maybe you can test it where the fibre cable is at, but the question would be if your fibre is active. not sure how vm works. on openreach when the fibre is connected to the ONT we waited for them to activate the ont. which you dont have so, worth a try i guess.
oh you dont even have the hub yet, oof, if you had the hub then you could see if your internet would work easily but yea no hub no internet. see if the fibre is active if so then maybe you can get a router with the fibre port? i seen some other isps use this such as Community fibre, if you get they 3gbps plan you get a router with fibre port.I've ordered a fibre tester to play around with it, but yeah I just need the hub and the fibre going from the external box to inside, would self-install if they gave me the option, would by my own fibre cable if they'd just send out a hub >.<
yeah the hub I'll be getting will have the fibre port directly on it, it's why I think they haven't sent it out yet, the installer brings it >.< tempted to try a router with a fibre port, doesn't hurt does it hahaoh you dont even have the hub yet, oof, if you had the hub then you could see if your internet would work easily but yea no hub no internet. see if the fibre is active if so then maybe you can get a router with the fibre port? i seen some other isps use this such as Community fibre, if you get they 3gbps plan you get a router with fibre port.

Yep, the -17.5 dBm is great for an XGSPON downstream. They've done a good job with the network.affraid not, on the 26th @ 8.51, I had a text to say they'd come between 8-1 on 28th, at 7 pm that night I get a call (from the offshore call centre, who have no idea what network I'm not on, nor that its a trial) stating outside works weren't complete, or something, at first they said they needed to connect me to the network, when I explained that it had already been done, brown box on the outside, they changed this to the "box on the street isn't complete" I stated it was, and that the AV Online engineer informed everything was good (I even looked at the tests etc from the machine they had -17.50 on the machine they had good? bad? good I hope lol). The guy did say the range between -17.50 and -20? maybe 25? been a while, I assume since they can actually test the dBm that I am connected at the back end to where I'd actually get internet?Yep, the -17.5 dBm is great for an XGSPON downstream. They've done a good job with the network.
Just an unneeded annoyance. If they don’t update the system to state external work has been completed then it’ll happen again,Now you see why they refer to it as a "trial"![]()
