how long does it take for Virgin PIA installs?

ah yeah I see, could a different router fix this you think? (any recommendations?) tbh I just have the hub setup, with the wifi off, 10gb ports going into the switches etc
i use the QNAP 301w router which has two 10gb ports, one for wan and other for lan, the rest is 1gbps ports.

i just ordered a new router "

XIAOMI 10 Gigabit Router"

which have 1 - 10gbps sfp port and 1 10gb wan port, then the rest of the ports are 2.5gbps.

this router is from aliexpress, still waiting for it after 7 days but it should be on the way now.

That's quite something! I'm not sure how well it works but it looks like it'll attack you if you look at it funny...

lmaooo well no other company in the world for some reason dont do 10gb ports and 2.5gb ports in one router :) so have to buy from CHINA lol, the qnap one is pretty good tho, i been using it for a year.

Cool. Just don't blame anyone else if it starts trying to invade a neighbouring island.

QNAP is interesting. Their support for their, very few, switches is awful so I hope the routers are better taken care of.

thought about this but the 1gbps ports put me off a bit, as would have swapped this out for my switch (QNAP QSW-2104-2T).

I could go for the QHora-322, but its over £500 just isn't worth it IMO. I don't need wifi 6 either really as have Ubiquiti Access Points, and will probably get a U6 Pro or something similar soonish(when I see a bargain)

this looks too fancy haha, would look weird under my stairs attached to the wall :P shame they don't do a more standard looking one,

I was recommended RB5009UG+S+IN by msh, it has 10gb (SFP++ and 1 2.5gb port, and 7 Gbe ports, if only it had 1 more SFP or RJ45 10GB port. would have been ideal.
10gb in, but then can't get 10Gb out of it? seems strange to me.

YouFibre seem to not like Virgin? that speed test at the bottom is unreal lol.

Most of Virgin Media's traffic goes through Aorta / Liberty Global's network now. Nothing YouFibre or VMO2 can do about it.
It’s just a poor show as I think there would be a latency drop across the network if the routing wasn’t done via the Aorta portals

Yep BBC and a bunch of others such as Google where VM peered privately haven't been moved through Aorta.

Where VM don't have existing peering the transit goes via Aorta.

VM genuinely had to argue with Liberty to avoid being moved 100% behind Aorta.

Uploaded increase this morning around 11.

That upload is a disgrace.

Virgin have now gone live in my area, some 6 months after they rolled out their XGS-PON kit and are only offering the same 1100/100 connection, no symmetrical options at all.

I'm on a FTTC connection and don't want to sign up for a 24 month contract with those speeds.

Disgrace.

Well vm will be changing the speeds for XGS users, just dont know when. they have tested 2.2gbps plans to some users.
