How long for O2 to fix a problem??

I have been having issues with 3G in Malvern since the very first time I started using mobile data on GiffGaff; at first I thought it was my Chinese phone, but it works perfectly in Worcester, Gloucester etc.

Basically, the upload/download limiters are back to front, even on the feeble maximums O2 allow GiffGaff users.

In Worcester I get 109kB down and 38kB up.

In Gloucester I get 130kB down and 48kB up.

In Malvern I get a maximum of 43kB down and over 189kB up!! (it has been as low a 2kB down!!)

Not only has this been consistent over two years and several different phones, but I found an old O2 forum with EXACTLY the same complaints going back to 2009/10!!

If you complain to O2 they say there is nothing wrong with the transmitters, which is a dodge, there IS nothing wrong with the transmitters, it is how they have been set up that is wrong.

Does anyone have a direct email address to the head of O2, perhaps if he was bombarded with complaints he might get his technical staff to do their jobs.

It is not GiffGaffs fault, but as we are switching to 4G capable phones (4G is non-existent on O2 in Malvern), we are seriously considering switching to a different network and using Lyca or a similar International calling system for our China calls.
I could manage this now with my dual SIM phone, but SWMBO has bought a Samsung, which has only one SIM slot.

We have/had a network issue with O2 here. Denied every time I reported the missed and dropped calls, and only admitted to when I got the PAC code.

Which I didn't use since no other networks work for voice in our house thanks to the thick walls and where the transmitters are.

Though we can get 50 Meg up and down with EE 4G with a roof antenna. Just no voice calls.

So I didn't use the PAC code. It has improved a bit, but it's still pretty useless. Given that I'm sat here with a 3 bar O2 4G signal I suspect the issue is congestion and given it's a rural area, they can't be bothered to erect another transmitter to spread the load.

I've found that mobile operators are universally pretty rubbish at coughing to local networks faults or related network changes / congestion. I don't think they give their front-line support staff much information, beyond maybe access to a general faults page that only enables them to relay larger network problems (ignoring the smaller issues).

No wonder O2 are going bust; if it wasnt for the free GG to GG calls, we would have left already; 6 years and still not fixed a basic configuration error...........

In Malvern is is NOT a case of congestion, my speeds are consistently around 45/190 while sat at my desk, 24/7 with 4-5 bars H+ on my phone; if they can manage 190kB UP they can manage that or more DOWN. The roughly 1:4 ratio is the exact reverse of the ratios I see when using my phone outside of Malvern.

I tried complaining through GiffGaff, but they just refer you to the O2 fault reporting page

depands on the area I guess but I find O2 to be good given the choice.

<RANT>vodafone is terrable they dont even have some one to reply to a complain email all I get is boiler plate replies. same with EE they cant do any thing, I have to spend my time finding the right place to get help. 3 is ok but speed in London are terrable outside London very good though. </RANT>

you can go with Virual providers I didnt use any one of them so cant comment

I'm a bit confused with your measurement units.
190kB/sec up?

Can you post a screenshot from the speedtest.net app?

Tom - www.mouselike.org

I will have a try later, but to clarify, speedtest.org app on my phone DOES give the result in kB, Which I am assuming means Kilobytes (yeah, I know it should be KB), although strangely, on SWMBOs new Note4 it give it in MB, as in 0.02MB!!

Perhaps because capital "K" is also used for "Kelvin" ??

Anyone got a free photo upload site they would care to recommend?? Mine has gone subscription only; and the forum isnt currently accepting uploads, either directly, or into the old albums section (Max file size 1Byte).
