How to do "Network scan" on B593?

I hope someone can answer this - and apologies in advance if it is dead easy...

I have a Huawei B593s-22

DTMark wrote this sometime back;

If you get your B593, you can deselect "Auto Network" mode, then lock it in "4G only" mode, and perform a network scan and it will show you which operators have a signal that reaches it. You won't be able to connect to them without a SIM but you will at least see what's there.

Can someone please tell me how to do the "network scan"? I have searched through every setting and read the manual in detail but can't see how.

I have it locked in 4G. I think EE may be available - but no idea how to scan for it.

With a Vodafone SIM I get 1 bar, so would like to try for a better provider if available.

Thanks for the help.

To lock in 4G only mode:

Internet tab, Network Mode: set this to 4G. Not recommended for normal use if signal is borderline as this will prevent a fall-back to 3G. However it is useful if you want to scan for 4G only networks. Set it back the way it was afterwards.

To scan networks:

On the same page set Connection Mode to "Manual" and press Submit. Then click "Disconnect". Then set Network Selection to "Manual" and press the "Search" button (NB these buttons only appear as you work through this sequence). This takes a fair while to run. The list of available networks will show in the box on the screen.

Thank you DTMArk!

Worked brilliantly. Seems I have O2 and TMO as well, both forbidden.

Is there any way to check their strength, or do I need to just get a cheap SIM for each to test it out?

That's a good question.. I think 'Forbidden' simply means that it can't connect to it as it doesn't have the right SIM card/credentials.

I *think* you have to put the right network SIM card in to see the signal strength, but you can always see what happens if you tell it to connect to one of them. The last tab (IIRC) has a thing called "Diagnostics" and you want "Wireless status check" (again IIRC) which will show you the signal information if it is able to retrieve it.

Oddly enough I have an O2 mobile data SIM here that I ordered on their website (free) and since we can get O2 4G here now I'm going to be trying that out with e.g. a £5 top up to see how it performs.
