How to find ISP deals

Hi, I think this site is great for listing all ISP and their deals... but how do I use this site to find those serving my property/area?

there doesn't appear to be a an address lookup

Sadly, we don't currently have one, which is partly because some networks refuse to provide any coverage data or to put it into in a form we could actually use. A project does exist to tackle this, but it's been delayed due to other distractions.

thank you for the prompt response. The work done to even gather all deals is appreciated too.

Most of these smaller providers don't appear on the main comparison sites.

What would you suggest the best approach/balance to get the widest but quickest search results for ISPs available in my area?

Don't have huge choice where I live, unfortunately

Uswitch claims to have this functionality but sadly it's entirely incorrect and inaccurate for my postcode.

The Better Internet Dashboard is quite handy for seeing who is / has built in a particular area:

A website like BIDB would give you a quick idea of what networks are live in your area. You can then focus your search on just the providers who operate within those networks.

A website like BroadbandChoices also shows up a range of comparable deals from the bigger names available at your postcode too. But if you have recently had a new network go live in your area their postcode checker seems to lag about 2-3 months behind so you may miss out on some of the newest options if you've noticed any companies digging in and around your street recently.

If you happen to have any regional ISPs live in your area after checking BIDB, the chances are you'll have to go direct to their site to order. As they won't show on most comparison sites.

(EDIT: Mark beat me to it!)

thank you. Yes been checking BidB but they only seem to show the Network (infrastructure) owner, rather than ISP.

For me it's Openreach FTTP and VM. Both of which only went live this autumn.

I was reading Moneysupermaket's aggregator details (Descicion Tech, MoneySupermaket bought the company out) who state they get details from OFCOM.

Checked OFCOM and they only publish their details of network availability 3 times a year.

it's then down to indidivudal ISPs to publish on their own websites. So I can find deals direct on websites (such as voda & VM) but they won't appear on comparison sites that scrape data from Uswitch... until it's updated.. 3 times a year!

oh well, the search continues.

Having another headache with VM trying to get them to recognise my address as serviceable. Some clown of an engineer didn't make the effort to properly check where our street network connection point is. Registered our address as un-serviceable, so now VM won't take us on and even when you contact them it's very much a "computer says no" response.. even if you provide photos and video of the network connection point 1 metre away from property, including the ducting for mine and neighbour's property

Anyway, I digress ...

If it's only VM and Openreach what kind of speeds and packages are you looking for?

Off the top of my head Onestream (uses Vodafone via Openreach) are the cheapest for gigabit for example. That's £34.95 a month.

If just looking for a cheap option with decent speeds of 100Mb or so then it's probably Shell that's the cheapest right now (about to be sold off to TalkTalk I believe), or Vodafone would slightly undercut them if you happen to have your mobile with them.

That's by design. I don't want to become a comparison site.
Though with that in mind, there are plans to open up our datasets which could help with the broader issue.

Currently with TT on a 76Mb loyaly deal. That's £24/month.

Would like to pay similar but with an advertised speed of 150mb+

When I had a VM salesperson knock on the door, I was offered M250 with pods for £22/month (and I didn't even need O2 sim). I snapped his hand off but it all went pete tong after that.

Will check out Shell BB and Onestream thanks

Have you also checked Topcashback and Quidco? From my own experience those tend to work out best for the larger providers

yes, always keeping eye out, but TCB and Quidco use same aggregators/scrapers as Uswitch or Money Supermarket.

vodafone and VM for e.g have different deals when going direct. Less reliance on non-guaranteed cashback.
