Huawei 5G cpe pro changing network bands.

Hi guys

Are we able to change network bands and change the mast it's connecting to.

I live 10 to 15min away from a Three 5G mast the mast it's connecting to is not a 5G mast that is capable of giving good 5G broadband speeds as I'm only getting just above 100mbps speeds cause when I check on Three network website says 5G broadband not available.

Coverage checker says 5G available in my area but my post code not available E3 5LW but live near to the post code that has 5G. Customer service say I do have 5G available in my area guess its not updated or I'm getting 5G not full potential speeds cuase it's not fully available that's why says not available yet.

Three say it uses different part of the network to give good 5G broadband speeds I can clearly see its connecting to a 5G mast maybe a 5G mast that is connecting to a mobile one not 5G mast that is capable of giving good speeds for broadband.

I really struggle to read your posts - I never really know what question(s) you're asking verus what comments are statements you're making and what is information you're trying to provide/pass on.

What exactly is it you're wanting to know, or do? What are the current status of things - hard factual mast/cell IDs, frequencies, what devices are connecting to what, etc would all be very useful to begin to understand your situation and advise accordingly.

For the 4G connection, or the 5G? What mast are you connected to currently, what mast are you wanting to connect to? Do you have an antenna at the moment, and if so is it directional or omni?

There is no setting to allow you to select a certain mast. Almost no routers allow you to do that, apart from Mikrotik's (they don't have 5G models)

As mentioned in (many) other threads here, it's possible to set/force bands on Huawei routers using such software as the HuaCtrl Android app or LTE H-monitor Windows program.

But again, what are you trying to achieve?

LTE H-Monitor is a software that allows you to monitor your Huawei 4G or 5G router.

You can display indicators (speeds, signal strength, etc.) over different periods (up to 1 year), and you can also manage the router configuration (radio parameters, SMS forwarding, data activation schedules , ...).

Download link is on that page to use if after reading you consider it will do what you want, runs on a PC.

So, to reply to the question that, I think, was actually asked, no you can't. I don't think that even Mikrotik can do this directly. What you can do, is specify which bands you want to connect to, and then the router will pick the best mast that has those bands. There is some logic to this: there is no point in specifying a mast which doesn't exist or goes out of action. You then have nothing; but let the router decide, and then you are always connected to the best available mast, based on your band requirements. The downside to this, is that a temporary outage on your best mast will result in connection to a less good one, and your connection to that one will remain until you restart the router, in many cases. LTH monitor will reboot for you on a specified schedule if you want it to.

Use LTE H-Monitor mentioned by kommando828 above. Sorry I called it LTH Monitor in my post by mistake.
