Huawei B525 4G Broadband Question

EE recently brought out a SIM only unlimited data plan, and was wondering whether I could buy a B525 and use it for 4G broadband. I’m currently on EE already. Ive run a speed test in my room on my S8 and where the B525 will go I get about 75 down and 15 up. Would the speeds from the B525 be the same as what I get on my phone if I’m using the router out of the box?

Depends, does your phone have the same bands as the router and the same CAT. The B525 is CAT6, bands depend on the version eg 23A etc.

I should also mention my area gets very good coverage 90% of the time, I'm just not able to get broadband installed therefore I'm going with 4G.

Cat 16 is much more capable than CAT 6, so as long as the mast will support Cat 16 then your phone will get much higher speeds than the B525. CAT 16 would be wasted on my local mast, I only need CAT 6 until Band 32 is enabled (a Three and Vodafone only frequency) and then I can go CAT 9 on the router.

I reckon my town (Cheltenham) isn't on Cat 16 yet anyway as I couldn't find much about Cat 16 with EE apart from a few major cities, so I think if it was Cat 16 It'd be a fair bit higher than 75 down.

I'm also gonna be connecting to it on ethernet so hopefully that should boost it too.

Remember though that a one-off speed test means very little on 3G/4G. Even tests in exactly the same position with the same kit run a few minutes apart can give a factor of two difference in speed. You really need to run multiple tests over a period of time to get a view on the long term performance and stability.

Agreed, I have run back to back speed tests and got everything from 5Mbps to 18Mbps from a static 4G router.
