Huawei H112-370 5G reception keeps cutting out

Guys, I've been offered a Huawei H112-370 5G Router and wanted to double check that it would work with a 4G sim and also if it works okay with external antennas for 4G?

Also it has been used on VodaPhone and EE. Would that indicate that its been unlocked and will work with the 3 network?

Many thanks! :)

We use the Gigacube H112-370 with Vodafone for a small business, so I thought I'd share my experiences.

I run speedtest and graph it with Nagios - see attached graph.
You can see a cycle of good speeds at night and poorer speeds during the day.

When 5G is running well we get good speeds - up to 400mbs download and 75mbs upload.
Approx once a day it slips back into 4G so speed is e.g. maximum 60mbs download and 23mbs upload. However it can be worse and barely working with 4mbs download and 1mbs upload.

I find a soft reboot from the GUI will usually fix this.

I have spoken to Vodafone tech support for Gigacube.

They say the router should resync with a server every 2 hours to keep 5G up. If not the connection reverts to 4G.

They recommend the following to resolve it:

Power off the router, remove and reseat the SIM, then power on.
This "resets the 5G sync"

This does actually work but is a bit of a pain, especially if working remotely due to the pandemic...
Can't get anything more than this from Vodafone, e.g. why it works or if there is going to be an upgrade to the firmware...

If anyone can find a way of scheduling a reboot on the router each day, please let me know.

Peter

Hi mate, I think this warrants a new thread, if you could open one instead of hijacking the current..

Really ?
I am getting the same as reported at the beginning of the thread
"It would get a really good 5G connection, around 200mbit, work beautifully for up to 24 hours, then just fall back to 4G."

I still think you should open a new thread, it's all getting very confusing.
While you are bringing up a similar problem, it may not be that similar after all and takes from the current discussion.

thanks so much for that.
my router does not have a username, but I managed to login using username of admin and method API.
The monitoring works well and so does the reboot.
I shall keep an eye on the 5G indicator to see if it goes down...
